If you never forget, do you really forgive?

They say "Forgive But Never Forget". But if you never forget... do you actually forgive them?


If you told someone you forgave them, but always bring up that 'thing' that you supposedly 'forgave' them for, that sounds more like a grudge if you never forget.

Forgiveness is accepting something the way it is without judgement. Forgetting is just forgetting it altogether.

Its possible. You can totally forgive someone for something but are now more aware of someone else possibly hurting you the same way so forgetting might not be all that wise. You do have to be careful though because resentment is a tricky thing. Some of the best advice I ever received was," If you cant forgive and forget, then pick one".

If that person held head head up high and enjoyed hurting you then you never ever forgive even if they are on rheir deathbed and want to die with this sin off their soul me?
