At what stage in your life do you become a 'Lady'?

I was called a 'lady' today!!!! If I'm honest, it has happened a couple of times before, but I've NEVER considered myself a 'Lady'! What defines a 'lady'? Are YOU one? and why? : )

My ex-boyfriend's boss defined it like this:

He said I was his "girlfriend" because I was under 30. Anyone over 30 could be considered a "lady friend."

So I guess it's 30. However, when I'm in the store and some 5-year-old is bumping into me the mom always says, "Watch out for the lady." So I think it's relative to how old the person referring to you is.

The definition of a lady is:

A well mannered and considerate woman with high standards of proper behaviour.

Am I a lady? Answering this question will make me sound like a hypocrite, but that's okay.

In the real world, I am a lady....I would never use foul language or misconduct myself in any manner. I'm always mindful of others.

Okay, now that I've blown my own trumpet, lol....lets get on with another day!

I think it all depends on the person. Personally I would have to say the age of 25 and up, but still depending on the person and how mature they appear to be. It's just your appearance and the way you carry yourself. I've seen girls who seem to act like they are still in high school and are around the age of 25 and I wouldn't use the word "lady" to describe them. If you are polite, mature, and respectable to others, being called a lady is a compliment at any age.

I think the common conception of the word lady is that it refers to an older female. Same with the word woman.

But I think that the word Lady is used commonly when someone wants to address a woman, in a polite manner. It's a bit old-fashioned. I can picture older men trying to be polite to a female, saying "hey, little lady", haha. But I guess there are situations where it's used in more of a mean way... like "Hey, watch where your goin' lady! Crazy hag!'... or something, haha.

Anyways, as you can see, I'm not entirely sure at what stage a female transitions from girl to lady... or woman to lady. Just seems like it's another word to use... girl seems too childish... woman seems too formal.

depends on when your presented to society you never will become a lady unless your parents put on you debutant ball in which they present you as the word lady is actually used for the aristocracy to define someone usually over the age of 18 but has been changed a few times started at 13 then 16 before made to 18 (marriable age)

Well,it depends on behaviour more than age.I was called a Lady even at the age of 13.If you are polite, gentle, frail and an artist or rich important person,it is more likely that people will call you that.

I think a Lady is defined on how she carries herself,How she talks. She has class, and cares ,truly cares about other people. The age, in my opion,is late 20s early 30s.

a lady to me is a woman who holds herself right, who doesn't do things that would make them... trampy. an honest woman, someone who sticks to their word. someone who has high morals and ethics and A LOT of respect for themselves.

HELL YES I AM A LADY!!! (:
