Do you think that digital books (ebooks, elecronic handheld books, etc) will take over printed books in the near future? (50 years from now). Yes or no?
If you would like to, include why you think yes or no.

No.
I think the technology to do this(like laptop computers) has been around for like 20 years now and it hasn't happened yet. It's hard to curl up with a laptop like you can with a book. A book costs like 10 or $20, a laptop $500 and up, so you don't worry so much your precious investment will get stolen. You don't have to charge the batteries in a book. It doesn't break if you drop it. And then there's the issue of longevity. There's not really a data storage medium currently available that can last as long as a book. If you get a book printed with acid-free paper it can last like 500 years. Flash memory has like a 10 year life. Hard disk drives about the same and they can crash long before that. CD-roms are 1-50 years depending on quality and storage. Sure you can keep transfering the data from one meduim to another. But I believe this is something most people either won't get around to doing or don't want to be bothered with.
If they could solve all or most of these problems with a handheld electronic book or something like that, then I would say they would be more successful. And I'm sure they have already replaced books to some extent, especially for reference. Google is so much better than a dictionary or encyclopedia.

No. digital/ebooks books have been around for an prolonged time now and nevertheless very few people even understand approximately them. Hell, my grandmother has had a digital books to which she gets carry of books from internet for a minimum of seven years now. As an avid reader, i like BOOKS. i like the journey of analyzing an extremely e book. i'm no longer saying i does not study an digital e book now and then, and that i will see the convenience area of it, despite if it may in no way replace extremely books. Thats my opinion.

no way. i love reading instead of listening to someone's boring voice for 3 hours. i'd rather read the book through my eyes.
