Hey, I think your parents had really cool jobs.
I think it is so neat to be able to help someone change their appearance and have healthier bodies. I can’t do that. Imagine being able to making people smile and feel special. That is what my hair dresser does for me. I go in feeling really icky, and come out feeling like a beautiful and sexy woman. That means a lot to someone who works all the time and goes to school, and hardly has time for anything else.
Not many people can do that, man. So, I would be so proud of your parents.
As for trying harder in school ? I have friends who drive cabs and they have doctorates.
So, it has nothing to do with that (with trying harder and collecting degrees and certifications).
It (life) has to do with being happy, and doing something that you like to do, and that you feel respectful about. It has to do with feeling like you are contributing something for the betterment of the world – that you are leaving a positive footprint.
Perhaps getting an education will help you get a different type of career than what they had. Perhaps not.
The important thing is to have FUN. And, to do a job that makes you happy and makes you feel like you are contributing to the world.
Can you imagine doing a job, day in and day out, where you felt you were just clocking in and where you did not feel you were accomplishing anything or helping anyone ?
That is my idea of hel*.
I say, you should be proud of your parents. What they did has contributed to what you are today. Don't make fun of them, or say they did not do enough, or say they should have done something different.
Make changes within yourself that you want to make and further your education if that is what you want to do.
Just appreciate your parents.
You never know when they will no longer be here. My Mom is in her mid-70's and I can't imagine being without her.
Peace.
PS
I am working on my degree (working towards my doctorate). I try really hard and have a GPA of 4.0. I work full time and go to school full time. I am doing it for myself (can you believe I dropped out of college at 16 - so I need to finish it). I really want to make my Mom proud of me, too.
Please note – I am not saying you aren’t proud of your parents or anything. You just need to tell them that sometimes !
