Question:
Am I the only person who hates new years eve?

I can honestly say i have never enjoyed a new years eve since 1994, and that was only coz the fittest lad from our school revealed he'd had a thing for me for years! I hate going out coz its always an anti climax, staying in is no better coz you still get subjected to that god awful scottish song at midnight on the telly or through the neighbours wall, I hate it and i know i'm gonna cry at midnight at the realisation that this year will probably be just as bad if not worse than the last two! I want to go to bed at 11 but my loved ones insist i stay up and have a 'good time'!!!

Oh dear. I used to have a similar view of New Year as you do until last year when I went to Sydney and had the best New Year ever.

New Year is also a chance to wipe the slate clean, set yourself new goals and look forward. So keep your chin up kiddo, if all else fails just get hammered on babychams!!.

I've hated new years eve for years. It is just an excuse to get drunk. I realised that I was going to parties miles away from home that were mostly filled with either strangers or people I didn't care about anyway.

As it is all about a number anyway, I plan something active for new years eve and aim to be tired and in bed by 11.00. My favourite thing about new year is being up early and feeling good on news years day.

with that out look it will always be bad not all years are as bad as the last try and make it a better year, and you can start by seeing this one in with a good spirit, maybe it will carry on through the year if you give it a chance and think of all those out there that have nothing ,but still they are happy ,you should think yourself lucky that you have a chance to make a good year,,,so stop being a little cry baby and get on with it,i bet you had a nice christmas dinner and lots of gifts ,,,,,,,,some people have none of this and are all alone at this time,,,,so dont feel sorry for yourself.

Oh you shouldn't cry at midnight on new years eve or you will cry the whole year through, its bad luck to cry at the start of the new year and you'll end up been miserable, you have a lot to look forward to at the start of a new year and should be positive, new beginnings and new hope, get those shoulders back and go face the world and shock the lot of them girl, have a great new year.

No your not the only one that dislikes new years eve!! :) I have had no pleasure in it either. My hubby works for a towing company at night and works most nights doing it and for the last 2 years he had to work those night and both times he has had calls about an half hour before the ball drops and he has to go. Most of the time I seriously don't care whether another year passes of not, but just the fact that stupid drunk drivers have to wonder the roads late at night and wind up in a ditch and he has to go fish them out. Then he shows up late and theres nothing to celebrate reguardless. It's just the whole point. Over a "holiday" people got to get stupid and I'm just waiting one of these times one of those "stupid" people are going to be out celebrating and possibly hit him because they feel the have to be out on the road. New years eve is just another day..... what's the point?!? Another year older and another year passed....so what!?!

Ialways used to hate it,until the millenium when we had a party with the family and the neighbours, just get some mates round as well and go to the houses on the street, its suprising the people you meet that are just visiting relatives. It opens your eyes to the usual boring night spent with the family.Try and be cheery aand get out and meet someone new.

I love New Years Eve mainly because its my Birthday. I make a point of staying up till 4.00am every year. Family come and go. The Millenium was the best we had a great party which went on till 9.30 am and we slept till after 6pm. If it wasnt my birthday I would probably go to bed after midnight.

I am not going out New Years' Eve, I don't want to be around the drunks and others getting high, I want to be safely in bed by a decent time. I might even watch alittle of the parade the next day, if not at least I know I will be home where I belong and where I am comfortable. :)

I hate new year's eve because we all feel obligated to spend it somewhere special and that place is supposed to be the ideal conclusion to the year passed. But I have never felt that way after the party and never thought it was worth it. That's why the best way to spend this night is at home where you spent the other 364 days...

Well- Move on.. that was last year/2 years ago. This is a BRAND NEW year. Change things. Become a different person, and forget you're bad experiences. Just let go and "live without any regrets."

i know EXACTLY how you feel...in fact i feel the same about the entire holiday season. and it's true, it really is anticlimatic. i think it's especially hard if you are single becasue there is all the pressure to have someone to kiss at midnight and all that mess. i'm going out on NYE just because i want to do something nice for my teenage daughter...otherwise, i'd just want to stay home and watch movies and go to bed. i consider NYE amatuer night anyway...

I do think it's quite overrated. The best new year I've ever had involved a joke marriage proposal and being flung in a swimming pool. Other than that, they've all been quite boring.

I like New Years!! I plan to dress in as little as possible and have so much fun. You decide how your night turns out, and if you're determined to have a crappy night, then you will. You can come hang out with me if you want! I'm gonna have so much fun.

maybe if you stayed tuned in to your loved ones at home, though about what the event means to them rather than what it means to you, you could better endure the few hours and get to know your loved ones a little more.

No, it is so overrated.

Too much pressure to live up to, always an anti climax.

Its just another day....why do we need a new year to wipe the slate clean? Live for now and try and make the most whenever we can. Be with the ones that you love and cherish it.
