Is it OK to be a geek in highs chool?

Do geeks have any friends? What is the worst part of being a geek in high school?

I plan on being a geek in high school.. I'm switching schools and at my old school I tried to hard to fit in so I'm going to try being a geek. Any advice or comments?

Don't try to be anything. Yeah, easier said than done right.

Honestly though, that is the best thing to do. If you just try being something your not your lying to yourself.

Most so called "geeks" are called geeks because they are very smart and most teachers like them. If it's a bully though it'll be because of that and/or something your wearing (eg. glasses) ignore those ignorant people!



The worst part of being a "geek" social wise: Some people will envy your success and may try throw you off. They may try bullying you to make you feel powerless, useless and pathetic. Don't listen



I suggest: Be yourself. Not only is it good. Your also keeping a lot of stress away. If you try to be something your not you will go under the stress of living up to that every day. You might even start believing that's who you are/ supposed to be and you'll end up living a huge lie surrounded by stress.

The definition difference between a geek and a nerd is that nerds are socially awkward and geeks, well, aren't. So don't be a nerd!



I'm starting my sophomore year in a week and I've been known as the class geek since as long as I can remember. You just have to find the right group of friends who'll put up with you and love you for who you are and not just use you (trust me I've been there). Anyways, high school is awesome! confusing sometimes, but you'll find your own personality if you just be YOU.

heck i'm a geek and it's not problem! well...i hang out with geeks but whatever.

pretty much the geeks find the geeks and become awesome friends! i have...1..2..3...4..5.....7 friends that are geeks and they are all friends too so, no sweat. just be yourself around them and you will find that you have good friends all around you. and if the whole geek thing doesn't work then just make friends with that person that is nice to every one over there. it'll work out.

Geeks do have friend, just as normal people. Like emo have friends. The worst part might be people MIGHT make fun of you.



IDK why you would want to be a geek, I mean be yourself but if you want to try and be a geek then I guess hang out with the geeks and find what they do and their qualities

As a general rule, non-geeks wind up working for geeks when real life starts.



You can be a geek and be very likable. One never precludes the other. Don't be a fake geek. Only real knowledge and intelligence are respected. Impostors are spotted a mile away.

PS: Geeks at my high school were very popular. They were cool and lots of people talked to them. I know one who is going to Stanford! That's pretty darn cool

If you are referring the word "geek" as smart than I'd rather be a geek than be the popular girl. As a matter of fact, I work my way up to become the nerd and geek because they're actually the ones who become successful in the future.





Btw, the way I see it, don't worry about making friends, they are just for entertainment and communicatoin. Worry about your education and grades first.

Geek is a term used to those who are obsessed with certain things. Such as a star trek or star wars geek, some geeks though are obsessed with good things, such as academics. I don't recommend being a geek. Nerds are better.
