If you read "Our Daily Bread" devotions... On 7-27-07 was a story quoted from the The Kansas City Star...

"if elephants in captivity don’t get regular foot care, they are prone to infections that can be fatal."

It goes on to tell how someone invented the "elephant flipper"...
see the story if you want to read it to know more....

However, my question to YOU is...
If you were the one who HAD to... how would you give an elephant a pedicure?

Please don't answer "I don't know or I wouldn't have that job"... I'm looking for imagination!! :)

Please keep it clean & nice... I'd like to blog about your answers!!

Thanks, LH99!! :)

I would give the elephant some nice sleepy drugs to help it rest. Then I would get some extra large tools, obviously, then I would fix the elephant up with pretty little toes. Although, I don't even do my own toes, so I am not too good at it. I have to go get them done if I want pretty toes.

This is interesting to know though. I think I would pass on the job if offered though. =)

I would arrange for a big hoist to lift the elephant off the ground in a sling. They would keep him immobile enough and he would just be hanging there in mid air with his legs dangling. I would use a garden hose to wash off each foot thoroughly and probably use typical people pedicure tools to scrap off the dead skin. I would probably give each foot a good sea scrub wrap and a good rubbing to help the circulation. I would clip the toe nails maybe with some heavy duty pruning sheers and file down with heavy duty emory boards or maybe even sandpaper. If he was a circus elephant I would probably paint his toenails pretty colors too.
