why do I find it so weird to drink water from the bathroom tap?

I just find it weird to drink from the bathroom tap, does anybody else?

Nothing weird about it at all, I would never drink from the bathroom tap.

because in the UK, that water often comes from a cold water storage tank, NOT from the mains...

so it's NOT really suitable for consumption...

and it won't be so cold.

How can you tell???

Run the tap for a long time (don't do this too often, as it'wastes water') if it eventually runs very cold, then it's likely to be mains water.

If when you stop the tap running, you hear a tank filling (sounds a bit like the toilet after the flush) then it's likely to be a storage tank.

Never !?Never!! drink water from any bathroom tap as it comes from a storage tank and can literally poison you, it's what they call stagnant and holds bacteria on a massive scale, it's for washing not drinking. That's a fact.

Not only weird, if you you have a cold water tank in the loft for instance it can be positively dangerous, just imagine anything up there seeking to drink from the tank falls in, drowns, and decomposes, Cholera or typhoid waiting to happen !



There is usually only one source of drinking quality water in a domestic property, it feeds the kitchen sink.

eh yes!! you shouldnt be drinking from the bathroom tap it comes from a different tank and is not for drinking!!!

The water in your bathroom comes from the attic tank not direct from the mains so it is stale, may contain dirt, dust, dead insects, dead animals etc. I still use it to clean my teeth though!

Yeah, I'm not too keen on it either. I think it's because we know the bathroom is there for washing, rather than for consumption
