What do you think of Hot Topic?

Question

A lot of people where I live are afraid to go in that store. It's funny. I personally like it, but it's not really as "gothic" as it used to be. Now it's kind of mainstream. I mean, it promotes pop bands and stuff, and sells merchandise based on whatever's popular.
Regardless...
their shoes, belts, earrings, and jeans are awesome.
it and journeys are the only good stores in this rotten town

I love hot topic and spencers. We did all of my daughters back to school shopping at Hot topic. It was a little difficult to navigate what is allowed at her school but she came out with some pretty cool stuff. The store staff was really helpful in leading us in the right direction to get cool clothes that were still in the realm of the High School policy.



EDIT: it is sooo not expensive. They had a buy one shirt get one at half price sale and that saved us loads. Also they had a shoe sale when we were there so we got some great deals!

Hot Topic i personally think is awesome,,, they have alot alot alot of nice band t shirts. Old and New.

Ino my dad even went in there and bought a Van Halen T-shirt a while ago when he won tickets to his concert. They have alot of nice bands 2, movie shirts stuff like that. Makes u feel less dorky know the reputation that the store ahs when u get some transformers t shirt lol

Oh my gosh, I'm 46 and go into hot topic. They have some cute stuff in there for my nieces and nephews. It's not that bad. It's not like you're walking down a dark alley alone at night. Geez.

I've only been to Hot Topic once, and I found it to be okay. I know my sister LOVED Hot Topic.She really adored the dark gothic clothes they'd sell, but now she says it is too bubble gummy for her taste. LOL! XD

Sadly, the punk sub-culture is based on contempt for big business and corporate manipulation. By patronizing Hot Topic, you become the butt of this joke.

Yeah, Hot Topic and Spencer's were never meant to be "gothic" or "punk rock" they just happened to look like it. but really they are just stores that sell really rad things, and a lot of it happens to fit many stereotypical images. They are just material possessions, not a state of mind.

This shoe was modeled after a panther cat. Just like Jordan on the court. He would observe and then strike like a panther at his opponents and grabs the ball. When you look at the bottom soles of the Jordan 13 it resembles the paw of a Panther cat.

hahaha. yeah. alot of people by where i live are like afriad of that store, but i love it. it is rather expensice though.



the shirts are getting more like pop shirts, instead of the heavier metal kinda stuff. but its okay. most of the bands there on shirts and stuff are pretty good. and they have good music too, i also like their other merchandise, even though it has gotten more into whatevers popular.



i personally think its a nice store, i love the stuff in it, but sadly cant afford to wear most of it. haha.

And like you said, they aren't to goth lol Hello Kitty and the Litlle Mermaid are so frightening haha. But i do like their whole goth fairy collection. And the people that work there are so nice : )

its not scary at all. its a great store really, it just has some really wierd customers, thats all. they play some sick music when your inside(not always deathmetal), and they probly have the coolest collection of t-shirts i've ever seen too.

I like it too, but I agree, they're getting a bit mainstream. They still have cute stuff though. I think my biggest problem with HT is some of the poseurs who shop there. They drive me nutsssss.

It's an EMO store. It smells pretty bad in there, too.



There's lots of EMO kids in there listening to EMO music with headphones, and silently crying. It's pretty funny, ha ha.
