What do you think Yahoo does with all these goofy a$$ questions?

When I google almost ANYTHING serious, a Y!A question is usually first in the search results. Sometimes it's like 4 years old, but it was a serious attempt by the answerer to solve the question. What about all these dumb P&S questions? I would hate to think that storage space is being wasted on all of these questions for years and years on Yahoo servers. I worry about these things.

Not only do they save all of the Q's and A's, they are compiling profiles on what you say, do, think, want to do, want to think, every little skeric scrap of personal data they eke out of what you submit and then do with it what they please. Which could include sharing it with all sorts of unsavoury government agencies or worse still.....marketing companies!

I wouldn't sweat it. See, unless there's a link in the Question or Details, or in the Answer or Sources, it's all just plain-text. It looks different because the Y! Answers website is made to make it look better for your browser, but the Questions and Answers literally copy and paste as plain text (.txt) files.



Plain text files are _tiny_, they scarcely measure a few kilobytes in size at most, and most modern computers--scratch that, most modern _cellphones_ can store Gigabytes of information, and then store a few Gigabytes more on a thumb drive.



I'm not even kidding when I say this: most of the text output of Answers takes up a trivial amount of space on Yahoo!'s servers. I could likely fit all of my own Best Answers on a single _floppy diskette_, and there's over a thousand of them dating back to 2006.

Most questions are deleted after a month or so unless the poster keeps requesting it stay longer or Y!A thinks it's worthy of archiving since it's a great question.

they are just stored in the server. i have googled stuff and some goofy questions have come up.

certain and no, i imagine he pays a crew of people to respond to all the questions nonetheless... basically seem for those with acceptable gramma and speeloing. Oh, in addition they answer all the questions about Mecca.

THEY PROBABLY DELETE THEM AFTER SOMETIME
