how excited do you get for your birthday?

it's my birthday tomorrow and honestly i'm not that excited. i actually find my birthday awkward because all the attention will be on me.
i was talking to a girl earlier today and she said she was excited one month before her birthday.

and also do you have any ideas for good birthday suprises that i can give to my friends? like decorating their locker with lollies etc

I think the level of excitement is usually proportionate to your age, the older you get the less you tend to care. I'm scared sh*tless for my next birthday. I turn 25 in August and I've decided to quit smoking the day after my birthday, it'll be the first time I've seriously tried to quit so I don't know how I'm going to react...be warned people I could turn into a rampaging b*tch in a couple of months. As for birthday surprises, hmmm, decorating her locker sounds like a sweet idea. Also try smuggling a birthday cupcake and candle to school so you can really embarrass her at lunch time and have everyone sing happy birthday.

I used to get really excited - like 3 months before I would start counting down haha. But last year (when I turned 14) I didn't get excited at all.. it was just like another day. I think people grow out of the excitement.

I get more excited like a few months before than at the actual time lol, I always find birthdays are a let down if you get too excited

I'm 46, and I've never really been a "birthday person" during my adulthood.



As a child, of course, I loved getting presents, and I think it's a wonderful thing during childhood. But my take is that during adulthood, it's kind of egocentric for people to continue the whole "celebrating me" thing into their adult years -- you know, throwing parties for themselves, or expecting everyone around them to make a fuss over them.



I will say that I do give thanks on my birthday for having survived another year. So many people get hung up about "turning another year older," which I find rather odd. Maybe it's because I don't define my "age" [as in how I feel] by the calendar -- the calendar says I'm 46, but that in no way dictates how I view myself, nor does it influence how I behave. If you met me, you would not guess my age correctly -- I still have my humor and flexibility intact, with no jadedness or major regrets.



Anyway, have a happy birthday! Do something fun -- or just allow yourself to be lazy. :-)

I dont really get excited like i did when i was a child, its not the same and my birthday is so close to Christmas it kind of gets lost but this year my little boy was born and i'll get excited for his Birthday, so that counts :)



As for ideas i am so rubbish at things like that sorry :(

My birthday is on Saturday. For some reason, I am excited this year. Some friends are having a party for me, the first one in years.

Surprises for friends:

*Get baby pictures of them and plaster the school with their baby photo, their current school photo and GUESS WHO'S NOW 15, or however old.

*Have a giant bunch of flowers and balloons delivered in First Period/Roll Call so they have to lug them around all day.

*We never had lockers, but decorated our 'spot' in the school yard with streamers and a giant sheet painted with Happy bday messages and took tons of photos.



I understand how you feel about celebrating your own b-day, I always hated when everyone watched you unwrap your presents and you had to pretend you liked a hideous jumper or another fancy set of bath soaps.

very. but I'm lucky enough for their to be a Blues festival that usually falls on my b-day, or around it. So since 1995, they have been a blast, and sometime the only vacation I get all year. But I'm glad to celebrate it.
