I'm getting fed up with using my laptop as it has really poor battery life and I was thinking, if I bought this: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5070107/c_1/1|category_root|Office%2C+PCs+and+phones|12108629/c_2/2|cat_12108629|Computers+and+laptops|12108658/c_3/3|cat_12108658|Desktop+computers|12108676.htm

Would it connect through my TV and give me like a computer with a really huge screen? would I be able to access the internet and stuff and sit on my sofa whilst typing and moving around? it says it's got a wireless antenna included, please tell me everything I need to know as I'm going to buy this right now if it's what I think it is xxxx

Hey gemma im pretty sure you dont need to buy a new pc to put your pc through your tv.I used to have a 19" hdtv and the tv had a pc channel.Your pc has a connection on the back of the tower for the monitor. All you will need is a TV that has the same kind of connection as the one on the back of your pc tower for the monitor, because all you will be doing is using the TV as large monitor. You will need a tv that has a pc channel and pc connection, allot of hdtv's have the right connections. Then once you have the right kind of tv all you will need is a pc to tv cable,if you dont have a proper pc then you cant do it with the laptop unless the laptop has a monitor connection,if it does then all you will need is the cable from pc world, but remeber your tv must also have the same kind of connection

See what i mean? : ) hope this helps honey.xxxxx

As slow and limited as a netbook, but without the portability. We can't see the Eee Box repeating the Eee PC's cross-over success

The race to the bottom just got a new leader. Not content with undercutting - and in the process revolutionising - the laptop market with the Eee PC, Asus is now taking aim at the desktop with the predictably named Eee Box. But be warned: it's a desktop PC in the very loosest sense of the word.

Yes, it sits on a desk. It's a small, thin box that's remarkably light, around the size of a textbook, and it balances delicately on a circular foot stand. It's a little wobbly for our liking, although you could always just lie it down. It also comes with an interesting bracket for screwing the Eee Box to the VESA mounting holes on the back of any standard monitor, which is a great way to save on space.

But really the Eee Box is little more than an Eee PC in different clothing. The same 1.6GHz Atom N270 powers it, along with 1GB of RAM and an 80GB hard disk. Intel's old GMA 950 integrated chip powers the graphics, Windows XP comes as standard - running without a hitch during our testing - and you get the same draft-n wireless. Notably, the shared core specification also means it lacks an integrated optical drive - a weakness almost unheard of in today's desktop PCs.

In fact the only differences we can spot in the specification are the presence of Gigabit Ethernet, and the support for the Memory Stick format to add to the SD and MMC cards of the reader on the front. The chassis does allow for some extra ports, though, with DVI the main addition. Two USB ports sit on the rear with a further two on the front, and there are audio outputs for speakers and headphones.

i wouldnt pay that much for something like that.

If you want a bigger display and a longer battery life for your laptop you have one of two options.

1) If your laptop has a vga outlet (lil 15 pin female on the side) then you can get a vga cable and attach that to a plasma and use that as a display) Thats what im doing curreently:-)

2) Or if you just wanna connect to a normal tv like a playstation does, then youll need a vga to rca video converter cable. Pretty straightforward connection too. And it wont cost you as much as 199 pounds!

if your gonna be using your laptop connected this way, just keep it plugged in so it charges whilst youre using.

Take care:-)

You need a wireless router to access the internet and it would still be tethered to the tv by the video cable so you better have a really long *** cable or sit really close to the TV. Oh yeah and you need a hi-def LCD with a DVI in most of them do anyways.
OMG 0.o I know this one!

Yes im sure you can as long as it has a dv port or something im not sure what its called but i used to have my computer hooked up to my tv, so anything with a certain port can usually hook up to any plasma kinda tv.. If i find more info on this i will email you it, kay? =D

seems to be a pretty basic computer not much use for high end gaming and things like that but if you just want it for web browsing and word processor and that kind of thing id say it would be perfect

You've gotta have a special wire connected to your T.V. that you can connect to your laptop.

i've read a bit about it and it seems it has a dvi port now...unless you have a cable from your tv set to connect to a dvi port then it wouldn't be able to connect unless you buy something like what i have linked below its fairly cheap at 10 dollars american...it allows you to use those 3 bit connector colored things to connect to your t.v.....ha now you love me forever =)
