Colonel Potter was a much better Commanding Officer because Ferret face and Hot lips never walked all over him like they did poor old Henry Blake.
Henry's character was playing hanky-panky behind his wife's back; he was just another Frank Burns with better medical skills and a bit more rank, while Colonel Potter was more of a father figure as well as an upstanding person all the way around. He was faithful to Mildred, except that one time, but he came to his senses.
Potter was an animal lover, especially horses.
The closest Blake ever got to loving anything was fishing and playing around on Lorraine, his wife.
I can have respect more for a man who has a good and faithful relationship with his wife and one who is always thinking with the little head, instead of the big one.

Potter had that cranky-but-lovable fatherly image that his officers and enlisted men looked up to. He was decisive and displayed his military wisdom. so I preferred him.

Potter - He had been through it all - including the First World War in the horse calvary.
He also had the advantage of being older and acted as a kind of father figure to the younger MASH staff.
He was tough, but also fair and compassionate when it called for it.

Loved em both! I cried with Radar when Henry's plane went down and loved the episode when Potter got the horse............I choose Henry because he was a loveable goof that was in "this man's army" without really wanting to be there.

Gee loved that show and both of them. Their characters were so different but if I have to pick one, I choose Potter. His character was one that made you wish he was your Dad. :)
