Very true. It's a variation of "necessity is the mother of invention". I needed something to hold back an inner door where the Council had put doorstops on the wall to stop residents jamming it open (to get pushchairs or large shopping items through) and all I could think of was a door wedge which didn't work. but my son folded a metal carpet strip into a "U" shape then bound it over with heavy duty duct tape, to hold the door and one door stop together, thus letting me get through with my buggy without any help from anyone else. So easy, yet it was beyond my imagination, but luckily, not his!
