This is the aftermath of the Hillary email scandal. Just don't know how long it will take me to get used the delete buttons new location. Every time now I put it in the archive and then go to the archive to delete. I too cannot yet find a reason to use the archive button. It makes no sense when we have a folder system. I won't give up till the miracle happens though. I may find a use. I have had this account for over 20 years now. I don't complain too much since the only cost is looking at ads which by the way my eyes are now immune to. I hope they don't find out or they will move the ads too. The cliches have increased but then subside. Yahoo has been on and off thin ice here but the idea of changing my email with God knows how many people is daunting. So funny how I found this conversation. My, how we complain about everything. American's worst fear = inconvenience.

Like many users, I'm missing the point of this button. I delete mail I don't want on organize the mail I want to keep into folders. I'll get used to the delete button being moved but I cant think of a single reason to use the archive button. With every update Yahoo makes I get 1 step closer to switching to my Gmail account as my primary. I didn't like conversation view and i was extremely frustrated when the search feature wasn't working at all or would only search mail going back a few months (which seems to be resolved now put was a pain for WAY too long), outages and errors have been much more frequent the last few years. Your on thin ice Yahoo.

In 18 years I've eventually deleted just about every email I've received. Thousands beyond number. In that time never archived an email. Not a single one. Ever. Why, then, put the archive button where delete has been since before I can remember? The imbecile responsible has been fired and plans are in place to move the Archive button elsewhere I presume......

I'll throw my support in with the dissenters. I've been using Yahoo! mail since the early 90s and I love it. Putting the 'archive' button where the 'delete' button has always been and forcing your users to re-train such wired behavior is careless. I was happy with the dialogue bubbles that came up promoting the 'archive' feature and I gladly archived all of the old email in my Inbox. The buttons need to be switched back, though. The default behavior should be to delete, not archive.

Seriously. Idiot move. I also have no idea what the purpose of an archive button is when there are folders. I have used Yahoo Mail from the beginning, but after this 'update' and an annoying struggle with adding new contacts (difficult), trying to merge duplicates (also difficult), assigning contacts to groups (which caused an error message every other time), then not being able to email the group with one click, but rather 160 clicks, then Yahoo not letting me send an email to 160 people at once,so all that clicking for nothing, and having to send out in batches (more clicking) I have had it! (planning my high school reunion, thus the group emailing). See ya Yahoo. I'm moving everything over to Gmail like every normal human should. Viva la Google!

You can use Adblock to remove the Archive button and the Archive tab on the left, but you can't move the Delete button back to where it was unless you also block the "Move" button as well.

http://www.emailquestions.com/threads/how-to-remove-archive-option-from-action-bar-in-yahoo-mail.12009/

Be careful you don't block the whole bar. It will try to block two elements when you try to block the Archive button, but make sure you do only the archive button and not the other one (multi something, I think). You can use the same method to block the archive section on the left pane as well.

If you accidentally block the entire bar, click on Adblock, Options, Add Your Own Filters tab and remove the one that is not the archive button, then reload the page. I hate that we are forced to resort to this **** because of irresponsible and careless decisions from these businesses.

AGREE 100%. I thought I was losing my mind and I kept archiving things! The delete button should be primary, not way off to the right! What were they thinking. I can't believe I still use Yahoo mail. These people are morons.

Why is yahoo not getting the point and either removing the archive button completely or moving it to the end and putting the delete button back where it should go. SO ANNOYING!

I've been using yahoo as my primary email for almost 30 years. If you idiot young executives keep doing things for no reason, like this ARCHIVE button and moving the Delete, so as to not be in a convenient place, I will just STOP USING YAHOO ALL TOGETHER....... Even as my search engine!....... Read the other complaints that are basically saying the same thing..

Same sentiment. I want the Delete where it used to be. I don't care for the Archive button. You can always archive a message using the "Move" button anyway.

Why would I want to get rid of and not delete something as my primary choice. I don't even understand archive as a feature. Click this button to lose things into a folder. I want to delete emails I don't want. That's the thing I do the most. Come on Yahoo, quick sucking.

This is want they want (archiving rather than deleting). It's far easier to datamine your history if it's still there and they don't have to refer to a secondary record. My money says the delete button goes away entirely in the next year.

Its just bad testing, If I added an archive button I WOULDNT put it where the delete key has been since Noah. But somebody put it there and maybe Yahoo will swap the archive and delete keys back in the next release in 300 years. I don't THEY want to spy on me by using my archive key.

The only thing I can think of is that Yahoo! wants to give you an opportunity to review your deleted items once more before actually deleting them.

I'm pretty sure what's going to happen is that we're all going to learn the new location of the delete button, get accustomed to clicking it, just in time for Yahoo! to move it back to where it used to be.

Yahoo never gets the point or listens to what users tell them they want.

It has been this way since that new CEO (sic) took over. We need to get

her out of there and also get rid of some of the programmers, who think

that their way, is the only way or the best way (almost always no the case)

And yes, as mentioned with AdBlock Plus and Element Hider, you can

hide the Archive Button (which I do not need, since I also use folders for

emails I want to keep seperate), but it will not allow you to move the

button order around (Yahoo should at least provide a way for USERS to

put the BUTTONS IN THE ORDER THE USER THINKS IS BEST FOR THEM

Don't we already "archive" when we move mail to folders? I agree the delete button needs to be moved back-it's a much easier move with the mouse to check multiple emails and then go straight up to delete and not have to move over to the right. My muscle memory is getting messed up!

Yahoo, dumb move to put the Archive button where Delete used to be. You have really upset your most loyal email users. At the VERY LEAST, give us an option to reposition the buttons and put the Delete button back to its original position.

Very poorly done. I delete a lot (partly due to the poor spam filtering) and will never Archive. If I want to save something, I file it in a folder or make a new one. So what is the real benefit? The only thing this will result in is increased storage for Yahoo. Could be they are thinking of charging for storage and making this a profit stream...They need to make it an option or make the bar configurable. Now THAT would be useful.

So frustrating! I don't know the name for that bar, but I searched Yahoo and the web (before finding this) and was unable to find any mention of the change at all. I wanted to find out if it is possible to switch the location of the buttons - but to no avail.

It will take forever to retrain my brain (or what is left of it) to go to the new location of delete button. What was the rationale for the change anyway?

I would love to know the reasoning for this. I have archived so many emails in the past week and in 15 years previously i had never archived one email. Once again, Yahoo sees fit to 'improve' things, without adequately informing its users, let alone asking questions or holding a poll/survey!

If it wasn't for the fact that I also run a business through My Yahoo email(the time/cost to re do stationary, etc is prohibitive), I would've changed a long time ago.

Yahoo seems to be yet another clueless entity that does what IT wants, not what its users/consumers want, or really need.

I am just adding to the conversation. Please stop messing around with people Yahoo. Look at Google...they maintain consistency in the GUI; much like furniture in one's home. Don't rearrange the furniture please - it makes me want to abandon your service and start migrating to Live Mail and Gmail...which I'm working on doing. This means I won't be seeing you ads which leads to less clicks and hence, less money from advertising. You guys better rethink what you're doing. IF you must change it due to the high amount of accidental clicking from users with bad mouse accuracy...change it for THEM, NOT EVERYONE. Make the GUI more "customizable" in that case.
