... You're stuck in a long que and the shopkeeper and the customer being served are having a chat holding up the que!?!?!

I only wanted The Sun. 5 minutes go by and I plucked up the courage to shout: "You two, you know, I'm sure this woman behind me wants her milk fresh!"

They both gave me a sour look and then said they'll ring eachother later.

Theres a time and a place people!!!

I agree that it's really annoying when shopkeepers do that. They start chatting to someone and they don't seem concerned if the queue is getting longer. Good for you for shouting out, it's admirable and showed them how rude they were being! I bet the woman behind you was grateful you did it too!:-)

Yep, totally with you there. I don't mind being held up for a good reason (old person struggling, problem with a product etc) but when people are just chatting, or as I had the other day, a woman's loyalty card wouldn't swipe after about 15 attempts... "lets just type the number in... oh I cant find the right screen...." argh let it go!!!

Sorry rant over. I don't mind being held up if there is an apology when I get to the counter.

That said, I do have the queue curse - it is guaranteed that the queue I get in will move slower than any other queue... even if I change queues...

Lol Yeah I agree.....But I would not have shouted that out! I just keep quiet, there's nothing wrong with saying it it's just I'm quiet and I'll just stand there or go to a different shop!

It really does annoy me though, I mean why? There are customers behind so they should come first in a shop, not a chit-chat! lol ;]

LOL! yep all the time I suppose it's not too bad if it's a small village corner shop because you can get away with saying things like that to people that you may know, but yes I do agree with you there. They have absolutely no right to glare. It's their own faults.

Nice remark by the way... I will have to remember that one.

Well done! It's time that people spoke out against the rudeness shown by so many people these days. I never hesitate to speak out as I think that's the only way things will ever start to return to the way they used to be. We were known for our politeness, but sadly that's no longer the case. I give free lessons in good manners at supermarket checkouts. I have taught several cashiers to say good morning, please and thank you.

Nice to hear that, despite different cultures worldwide, all of us have at least the irritation of people talking incessantly about absolutely NOTHING on freakin' CELLPHONES!

No my friend, it happens here in the heart of the United States all the time and literally EVERYWHERE.

I've heard people on the loo, sitting down and having loud conversations with others as they pass gas...it's gotten OUT OF HAND!!!!

I know! It's so irritating. I would have done the same thing, I even hate it when there is someone I know at the tills and they want to talk to me. I'll talk to them while getting my stuff packed but when I'm done I'd ask them to ring me or something so we don;t hold up the queue,

Yeah it's a bit rude of the shopkeeper to do that.

I hate it more when they are stood talking to eachother but still serving you, not even looking at you or talking to you.

I'd love to be a mystery shopper!!!

What's worse is if the SALES ASSISTANT is having a chat with the customer who just happens to be standing in front of you. ARRRGH!

It's like "Christ, can't you do your job and faff around AFTER the queues gone?!!"

I hate that too, sometimes the person is on their cell phone and your standing there waiting to be helped. If I'm just getting a paper, I just leave it on the counter.

I know what you mean! Or when you're shopping and you just want to get going, but the person at the till starts up a massive conversation, and comments on everything your buying.

It really make me grind my teeth that. I've seen me just dump stuff on the nearest shelf and walk out. When I'm being held up like that.
