No, I think some rules are stupid -I'm opposed to most dress codes, for example, and I think it's ridiculous pot is illegal in the US while alcohol is not- but fortunately most rules and laws do make sense and are there for good reason!

Silly and arbitrary rules yes, they are there to be broken!
2007-03-20 12:20:59 UTC
Nope, absolutely no. Rules are not meant to be broken but it is fun to do that & also dangerous at times. You must have heard a burnt child dreads fire. Why not a child dreads fire?

We all have a naughty child in us who always compell us for a first hand experience or to be a rebel even if in a soft manner.

As for me, honestly I feel life is also for free expressions & not always for good expressions. So, if there is a rule which you want to break then go ahead & do it provided it doesnot jeoparadize anyone's life or trust or....list will go on...rather I will tell you one of my fundas that helps me during decision-making----never risk something that you can't afford to lose. Risk only what you can easily let go. Breaking rules is like taking a risk. I hope this will help in deciding which rule has to be followed like a religion & which has to be ignored.

It is easy to figure out now that I have myself broken many rules . Hey! I am not going to give you any tips on that :)))

so I'll end it here.

CW : as usual.........good answer

No, that is usually a cope out for people to get their own way by saying "rules are made to be broken", what would our highways be like if everyone did their own thing on them? Being an adult means behaving in a sociably acceptable manner and rules are just manners to make life easier to live with those around us.
2007-03-26 23:30:34 UTC
To test the boundaries, to see how far I can go without consequences or punishment---has always something I have aspired to. (See I broke a grammatical rule--dangling participle!) Sometimes it is not actually breaking the rules-but getting AROUND rules that truly intrigues me. Or making the rules work in your favor. Or catching someone you dislike breaking a rule. Rules, in my opinion, are made for everything except following. Rules are for people who enjoy being ruled!

On occasion rules can be broken. It can keep you healthy. Like in traffic. You can be killed keeping strictly to the rules. Rules are only good if the don't do damage, then they have to be changed. As a policy try to keep the rules, but if that is not possible, don't worry as long as your motivation is a good and defendable one.

Yes, rules are made to be broken in some cases...(unless it's for safety or health... then it must be followed strictly)

Anything that has rules in life has a clause of 'stick with this unless' built into it.

There are a million examples I could thik of, but the number one is in love... there are fine line rules that everyone thinks are there, but when it comes to love, there really isn't any rule that I wouldn't break in order to have the love of my life with me.

1) When he's at work, if I ned to hear his voice, I call, or visit.. rule breaker?.. yes, do I care?.. Nope

2) If something was to happen to him in a place that I couldn't go to... I'd go and fight, sneak, and break all the rules till I was with him.

Another example is with kids..

Each one is unique and has their own rules, not one of them yet has been ruled by anothers set plan, they make their own courses and rules of who they are and what they want to be in life.

Yahoo Answers... the rules are broken all the time...extra ID's, things placed out of catagory, non answer answers... etc.

But I'm the same, if someone tells me something to do, as a rule, then I'd be wary of breaking that rule for fear of upsetting them.... not that f it wasn't important enough, I wouldn't break that rule...It just depends on the situation I suppose.

Miss Moon, I know there is a rebel in you somewhere... a biker chc just waiting to get out.... occasionally, just throw rules to the wind, and make your own path... Hugs.
..
2007-03-19 12:20:15 UTC
It depends on how stupid n silly the rule is...but even if it's not stupid I am like you, I'm tempted to do something when I'm told not to...as long as it doesn't hurt no one. Laws on the other hand is another story.

Rules are made to be broken.

Hey spidery, don't do ____!!! I mean it!!! hehe
2007-03-19 03:20:57 UTC
For me all rules can be broken. It's up to the self to break it or not. I try to play by the rules to keep the harmony, but I break some rules once in a while... or when I want to. ... Which is... everyday. :)

Yes,rules are to be broken and to tell you not to broke the rules- as per rules, whereas -when you already broken the rule!

rules are made for our well being and better life. if you are feeling that you cant follow the rule , then try to think about others too .your are not alone in this whole earth who is following the rule , there r others peoples to who are following it.try to control yourself , if you lack self control then how small is your strength. rules r for your betterment , if you take it postively you will be enjoying it and will get the good results later on in life , and you will understand its importance.

if you take it negatively as your binded or forced to do something , then you yourself will face the problem later on.

thats y follow the rule if you wanna be happy and sucessful in future.

For God fearing people rules are made to follow but the worshipper of the Saturn the devil the rules are made to be broken.

Probably in your case people who say not to do the things are the people whom you hate.

If you are thinking on this problem then there is Godly feeling in you but people wh are saying not to do are not the good people in your eyes.

I am a stickler for rules. However, there are some rules that just have to be broken. RC’s say you cannot use the condom in today’s day and age…come on! It’s ridicules.

Yes rules are made not to be broken but human nature like to break something and punishment are made to break you down. You are young and hot, should be okay to break some, just don't do anything that harm you or others.

depends on the rule. Standing beyond the guardrail at the edge of a cliff? Not me, but you go ahead. driving at night with my lights off? You go ahead. You'll find that you follow a lot more rules than you think.

ACCORDING TO ME SOME RULES NEED TO BE OBEYED AND SOME RULES R MEANING LESS AND THEY DONT PLAY A MAJOR ROLE IN ANYONES LIFE.......

but rules give us a meaning ful life and also by FOLLOWING SOME RULES AND REGULATIONS WE CAN BECOME SOME GREAT PERSONALITIES...............

we need to have a meaning ful life to lead ahead

THE WPRK THAT R TOLD NOT TO BE DONE R BEEN TEMPETED BY THE PEOPLE TO DO ...

AND WHEN THEY DO THAT WORK IT MAKES THEM REALISED WHY THEY R TOLD NOT TO DO......

SO I FEEL SOME RULES R IMPORTANT IN LIFE WHILE SOME R NOT..............

IF THEY R TOLD NOT TO DO THEY MUST NOT DO IT .

BCOZ THEY TELL US THE TRUTH OF NOT DOING THAT SO....

I FEEL RULES R NOT MADE TO BE BROKEN
2007-03-25 20:55:12 UTC
Rules are usually put in place for a reason. However, there are times when one has to be realistic. I'm not at all an extremist. So, I guess my answer is yes.

Yes, because people have their own way of thinking and will do a thing regardless of the rules. and the more that you prohibit someone from doing, the more the person thinks about it and ends up doing a deed anyway...

2007-03-19 03:10:40 UTC
it's human nature, WE tend to do things that will have some "cool" consequenses or something like that.

it's good for a rule to remain unbroken, but in reality.. well.

you: DO YOU KNOW OF ANY RULE THAT WAS NEVER BROKEN? and if (you think) there is, think again

Everyone goes through a time sometime when they rebel against something...its perfectly natural. If you didn't you might as well be a robot. Its how you figure yourself out sometimes. Some stay rebels, others learn from it,some lessons can't be learned until you Do it! Like when Everyone told me not to marry my ex...I didn't see the bad until 3 years in and he decided to be gay. Had to learn that one the hard way... :(

Some rules are so, as long as the consequences aren't disastrous, or as long as it doesn't cause serious problems. And as the wise answers tell you, There is freewill. It is Your Own Decision, Make It Wise :)
2007-03-27 02:26:47 UTC
You're right...........even I feel the same !!!!

So, I'd say yeah rules are made to be broken ( although to be honest, I never break rules ) !!!!

Hi Urmi . Why u want to break rules? lets be good friends, god fearing, helping peoplesharing knowledge. coumciling n n maintaining utmost good faith instead wasting or passing time. Pl send me ur email no.Promise u will not repent

Hi urmi.

Rules r not made to b broken but people break it.
2007-03-25 11:25:43 UTC
some rules are for peoples own good , while others is a way for people to controll someone else
2007-03-19 04:36:15 UTC
It is human tendency to do what we are told not to do. But we should practice self control and take pride in following the rules. So, I think rules are meant not to broken, but to be kept.

Being open minded is the main suitable factor to be. what's the factor residing life closed minded and staying interior that tiny sq. that all of us get given. I painted over my tiny white sq. strains in black a protracted time in the past. do no longer stay with the help of the regulations and that i've got faith a greater effective guy or woman for it!.

Not hugely adventurous here... I think most "rules" are created from past consequences, so I tend to see them as pretty good advice to adhere to.
