Question:
What's you favourite comedy classic UK comedy.?
2007-03-19 06:14:05 UTC
There are so many to choose from, I love the bit in Only Fools when Del is in the Yuppie bar and falls over, but does anyone remember the Two Ronnies classic 4 candles sketch, no not 4 candles, fork handles, handles for forks, I think that is pure comedy.

I love all the old comedies Only fools and horses, steptoe and son, rising damp, I used to watch them when I was little with my dad so they bring back nice memories.

We lived in the UK 20 years ago and we liked the two Ronnies too and Benny Hill, and also The Good Life with Felicity Kendal and the pigs, they were all just hysterical. Of course, Monty Python is still a classic, I don't know if that counts, but we all still love the parrot sketch. We also love Wallace and Gromit, and I like Fresh Fields too.

I remember the two Ronnie's four candles sketch, priceless. Two sacks of phones!!!! I think only fools and horses has to be the best UK comedy ever. Also Fawlty Towers, I love the episode where the name of the hotel is Flowery Twats!!!!

By the way the questions is being asked on Yahoo UK and Ireland answers, it is also obvious that the question invites people from UK who know UK comedy to answer. Please do not tell us how to spell HUMOUR!!!!!!!!

Why are Americans so pompous? Not all of them but i mean come on? Humour? dude! get a life. It's just a word. You spanner. (that's what you would call a wrench by the way)

I'm from Canada but I loove British humour! It's different. I know some don't care for it. I think it's great cause the humour is dry and sarcastic so you have to think a bit when the jokes are delivered. North American humour is more in your face. Either you find it funny or you don't. I love "Keeping Up Appearances"! There is another one but the name isn't coming to me. It's funny as he**! lol! The man who used to play Mr. Peacock on "Are You Being Served" is in it. (He died last week)

As much as I love Monty Python and even more so Fawlty Towers, as many times as that bit you mentioned from Only Fools and Horses continues to crack me up, my all time favorite British comedy has to be ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS.

I will never tire of the trials and tribulations of Edina and Patsy (and the brilliant writing of Jennifer Saunders).

It's simply fabulous, darling!

That Two Ronnies sketch is an absolute classic, but I don't think anything can beat Fawlty Towers for consistent humour - the Ronnies could be a bit hit or miss.
2007-03-19 06:22:39 UTC
I loved that show. My husband, always, says about the fork handles. Then, there's the Good Life, Porridge, Open all Hours, Are you being Served. They don't, do, shows like that anymore.
