Question:
Do you believe people on here can solve your problems?

I think YA! is helpful if you want help with a factual question etc. but I see questions about people's daily lives asking for help about what to do with a certain person (a friend/ a friend's friend/a bf/gf) etc. Do they really believe people can help them?
E.g's what I've seen - they just just get increasingly zany.

Q. I have [insert problem] on my [insert area], what should I do?
A. See a doctor.

Q.My friend isn't talking to me/did something to me/hates me/is making fun of me, what should I do?
A. Ignore them. They are not a true friend.

The rest mostly troll.

I'm not being cynical.. Whats your opinion?

I do not think that strangers on the internet can actually solve someone else's problems. Why? That person needs to solve their own problems. All they can get is advice from another person based on similar experience to solve the problem themselves.

What this site does is to get feedback from actual people (albeit strangers) who have experienced the same thing. Maybe I'm talking about personal problems for the most part. Answers for some questions simply cannot be found by searching on the internet. I believe sometimes people search for a while and then give up in frustration and ask a question on Y!A.

I have not used every single category on Y!A and there is probably a different "feel" for some, such as, Cars & Automotive or Housecleaning. lol Sometimes problems are most definitely solved.

Forget Polls & Surveys--it is under the Entertainment category for a reason. I think trolls are spawned there anyway. I don't take that section seriously; it's just for fun.

I have discovered that a THOROUGH answer is what helps people with certain problems. You're right that the short answers, such as, "Yes" really don't help much. Keep in mind that although some people want to help, they are just not as well-spoken and perhaps cannot express themselves well. They mean well, though.

Enough said. :)

Yes, I have been helped about cooking something or fixing something in the house. Of course, people could just look on the internet themselves, but some questions it is helpful to learn or get insight from someone. And if you are lazy you can let other people get the answer for you. Saves time. :)

no. they mostly offer help, advice, all based on their experiences or own knowledge. or lack of it in some cases, Its up to the person asking the question to sort it. to the best of their ability's using or not using the advice offered. hope this helps you.
