why is racism REALLY wrong? (read entire story before answering)?

I've been writing an summary on racism and came across the main question: Why is it wrong?
I figured there are over a hundred reasons but it all went back to racism being mean (as in bullying->mental scarring->possible death). and how could i just say it's not nice? Its a summary so i only wanted to put key points that were all different and original (so my teacher knows that i'm not just reading something off values.com and to keep the class interested in new ideas) I want my peers to know racism affects all aspects of life.
Not to say all reasons under the mean list are useless, but it's sort of stuck in a hole. Everyone knows the basics. So if your some lost an example- racism is wrong for Christians because God created everyone to be equal and in his image. So, disrespecting a race is like disrespecting God. Yet, many people do it. (I live down south so my school is full of racists but they go all out when someone denies God.)
I asked a random group of students and teachers at my school and a lot of the students said that they didn't know, they just didn't approve because "it's wrong to discriminate another race" but thats exactly what racism is. so that just pulls me back to the intial question.
and just so you know, i don't need help with the assignment (i cant quote ask-sites), i'm just curious as to whether you have an original reason, even personal if you'd like, as to why you approve or disapprove racism. If you don't know why you disapprove, i'd still like you to answer that you don't so i know there are other people. cause if no one answers, obviously i have nothing.

cause it doesn't make sense..

people take it to the level where they treat people differently because of it.

which is obviously not the way to live..

it's starts a lot of drama..

we can't live at peace like that.

it's a waste of time that we could be spending doing something better.

it's preventing possible positive ideas and contributions in the world by

disrespecting people of another race.

you miss out. on a lot.

I know this is going to be a bit different in giving you my opinion, so please bear with me. First of all many people don't really know where the different races come from. According to the Bible the four main races came when God struck down the tower of Babel and so that man wouldn't just start over her gave them different languages and different colors and they were cast to the four corners of the world. It figures then for the four colors were, red, yellow, black, and white. He did not make one better than the other, he did not put any in charge of any other. Man decided that the color they were was the superior color and their language was the only one that should be spoken. Here is were it gets real confusing. People split into smaller groups and with time their language though based on a prevalent base changed. Within their own race factions decided that certain people were not as good as themselves and that they needed to get rid of anyone who didn't match their idea of being, either pure enough racially or they didn't follow the same beliefs even though they both read the same Bible or other tome they considered their written religious beliefs. They felt that what they believed or their skin color gave them power over others. Thus racism began, racism against other people and other religions. Sadly it is still going on. My belief that racism is wrong is that it denys the person or people equality in their everyday lives as well and in some cases their lives, the equality that we have laws that protects their rights as well as the mandate of most religions that men are created equal. If you look at the discord in the world right now you will find people are still fighting over the same things power, color and religion. I don't know if this will help, but I hope so. Good luck.

I think it's not nice because when people are racist, they usually say something like, "Well he's dumb because he's black," and it almost always makes people sad.

Sorry if this wasn't helpful....hey, maybe you could quote some experiment about how a black guy and a white guy took the same test and got the same results or something?

i have a broader perspective than most. to me were all people, even if we look different to me were all the same. on top of that, racism is a concept embodied by 1960's country hicks. the same country hicks who best represent ignorance and stupidity. this isn't even a question that can really be broken down. like judging a book, but only looking at the cover. its just obvious.
