Question:
is our time running out???
2008-08-09 10:57:17 UTC
i look around me, will it be at the tv, internet, or the newspapers and just see a bland world where the people of this world are lead from one passing fashion to the next. thier only happiness is to upload to thier i-pods and watch the latest showing of 'lost.' on thier hdtv's. am i the only one who thinks we are being lead down the merry path of distraction will other people decide our future. i feel like i am the only one who pushes the BS of everyday living to one side and try and look at the puppet masters that run everything.
we live in a world of hunger and pain but it will all be ok come 7 o'clock when all the soaps start. we all look for our 15 minutes of fame only to find that the news has become a 15 minute topic. Poor little maddie is still out there but that was yesterdays news and it hasn't happened to us so why worry.
the art of protesting has been removed from us and all we are left with is being able to shout at the telly.

remember when you vote for your next priminister or president. He is only the front man, a face to look at. there are people in the shadows that pull the strings. we are just sheep.

sad but true.

Media's always been a problem, they give the stories that will shock and awe people, when they become boring something else comes up, sad but that's what they do to make money.

I see the angle you're coming from, sometimes we gotta stop and think, are things really this bad?

Most people work hard for their money, long hours are common, so if they wanna sit and watch their soaps, or listen to music on the ipod that they bought with their money then is that so bad?

You are an individual, if you don't want to follow the phases then be yourself and do what you want to. There are many tragedies happening everyday, we all face our own sadness. Fine, shout your abuse at me for saying this, but no its not our problem, and its natural for us not to be as bothered as if it were more personal. But we as a nation hear of these things everyday, no one has forgotten, but we can't stop and dedicate our lives to one missing person. Especially if we look at how many people are missing at this minute and how many families go through hell, yet they don't have the luxury of the entrie nation being sympathetic.

Life is worth more than sitting thinking about how bad things are and how fed up you are with the way its going. Go out to a country park and look at all the wildlife, flowers, breathe in the air, take in the scenery, realise life is an amazing thing and you make it what it is.

Dude

Tho Y/A don't show membership figs @ homepage, or view figs @ each question, long experience on several 'Net forums tells me that Y/A has millins of members

Also as in any such forum, the hassles mean that there are often many more folk who just come in to read than those who actually post & brave the flak

We can use our PCs to get many folk emailing the media, who influence the politicos

How many U turns has Gollum Brown done thru public pressure?

My pals & I often draw folk to BBC 'Have your say' - who have more readers than Y/A

So don't bottle it up: share it in creative ways that encourage & mobilise other folk

A lot of this is true. But there are some people out there who care, take a stand, who want to make a difference, who refuse to just 'give up' and move on to the next best thing. There is still hope.

I agree with a lot the things that you are saying, but at least we have a choice, there are a lot of countries around the world that don,t have a choice. no ipods and no fashion, and no food,we can all make a difference, and we only become sheep if we choose to do so.
