Do you believe that "Everything happens for a reason?"?

Last Friday I broke my leg and my ankle, and because of that, I can't go to one of the most amazing concerts of all time. My favorite band is going to be there, and I paid for the tickets, and I can't go, and I just feel terrible, and everyone keeps telling me that things happen for a reason. I just can't decide if I believe that or not, do you?

Well of course it does. What goes around comes around. You'll be rewarded greatly for what happened to you. Trust me =P

Personally Yes sometimes the worse things turn out to be good things like for example there was this huge car wreck where some man drove off the road and ended up in a ditch at a intersection in my town and it was just terrible but then later on after they secured the area i went down that same road and my car skidded and i hit the barriers that they put up Now think about it if that man didn't go into the ditch then maybe a other lot of people would and it probably would have been worse

Yeah, I do believe everything happens for a reason. Look at the 9/11 and the people that slept late, stopped for a bandaid, donuts, or didnt' get on the plane. These all happened for a reason. God has a plan and maybe you not going to the concert means you will miss out on something bad or something will happen even better.

Yes, I agree with you. Can't you get a wheelchair and still enjoy your programming? You should get there before the massive crowd gathers. Then at the end of the programming, the staff will help you to your car or someone's car about ten minutes before the show ends. You just have to make that arrangement for someone to get you there. However, if you believe that something very bad may happen that day, then you should be cautious and NOT go to the program. Remember this, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Peace and God Bless.

Yes i do believe so.

On Wed. i was in a horrible mood, and was wishing i would just die and all of that. Then the next day i was in a better mood, but i sprained my ankle..

I sort of see it as a way of God saying, are you sure you really wanted to die?

Maybe at that concert you are supposed to go to, something will happen there. Maybe the transportation you were going to take there gets wrecked. Why don't you try to sell those tickets, and put them away for when you are in better condition to go.

Not in the karma/fate/destiny sense. Also, even in physics, some things really do seem to happen for no reason. It's as if everything that could happen is assigned a probability, and then the universe picks one of the outcomes at random. When considering millions of particles, they do all follow the rules of probability, but there's seemingly no reason why one particular particles does a particular thing.

soooooooooooo sorry to hear what happened to you

but yes, i believe that everything happens for a reason...

maybe if you went, there would be a worse accident which will prevent you from everything

let this be a motive for you to save some money and interest for your favorite band's next concert. just keep in mind that you CAN compensate it

take care and get well soon

I do believe everything happens for a reason. Though we may not know the reason or we may never know the reason or ever understand it if we do discover why something happens but it happens none the less.

Sorry about your leg & ankle.

I do believe that. Maybe now, because you are not going to the concert you may end up finding the winning lottery ticket on the ground, and had you went to the concert you would not have found it.

Maybe so, if you had gone to the concert

maybe something bad would have happened.

Breaking your leg/ankle saved you to complete

your life's mission - Maybe, everything does

happen for a reason.

No. People say stuff like that just to make people feel better. For example, something bad happens, like someone dies or someone gets dumped, and people try to make the person feel better by saying there's a reason.

I also think people say this because humans love to find patterns and reasons because it's more comforting when everything fits into nice categories and boxes.

Depends on how you decide to look at it. You might ahve done something bad to someone b4 and it's come all the way around back to you. Or you could find an optimistic reason to not going to the concert. Rele depends on ur attitude and how you behave with other ppl.

I believe it does, but you can still go... sure you won't be able to jump around, but at least if you have a cast and all you could get the band to possibly sign your cast? You never know. Don't let once in a lifetime opportunities pass you by otherwise you'll always be asking about the "what if"s in your life.
anonymous
2007-09-02 19:20:58 UTC
it is for a good reason. it might prevent you from getting into a fatal car accident or some freak accident during the concert.

something is in works here, you are meant for great things and if you go to that concert, something will prevent you from achieving that great thing you are going to do.

Not sure why but those things just popped into my head
anonymous
2007-09-02 19:24:37 UTC
Well, yeah.. I do believe everything happens for a reason.. But it's so hard to think that way when something bad happens..!

Poor you, that sucks. But the way I see it when I look back at the past is that it REALLY sucks at the time, but looking back you can see where it all worked out.

If that makes sense.. haha

Yes, everything in life happens for a reason and also I believe that for every action there is a consequence. No matter bad or good.

Yes, I do believe that everything happens for a reason...sometimes I have to MAKE myself believe that so I won't get totally depressed when something bad happens.

eveyrthing always happens for a reason

... ALWAYS.

there are many times where i would do things but i was hurt or something to wear i couldn't do them.. and it kept me from getting hurt or doing soemthingg wrong. weired how it all works out tho.

who knows maybe something bad is going to happenat the concert. OR. maybe it coudl be a good one.. but something goes wrong where u could have gotten in trouble no1 really knows.

best of luck.my wishes to ya!

Yes. Things do happen for a reason. And the reasons are due to the decisions we make
anonymous
2007-09-02 20:13:58 UTC
yeah, i do. i'm guessing your favorite band is MCR. (so is mine!) i know, it does suck that you can't go to the concert. i had the chance to go to projekt revolution, but my sister ended up not wanting to go with me. and my sister HAD to go with me if i went. but then i got to see the concert live on myspace. it wasnt the same as going, but it helped a little. but god does things for a reason. and i personally believe god makes it up with something bigger and better than what you were supposed to do. i'm sorry about what happened. i wish you the best of luck!

The reason you broke your leg and ankle is because you tripped, was in a auto accident, broke it on purpose, etc, etc.

Get the idea?

u wont see it now coz ur thoughts r all mixed up, but after some months/years ull see it. or maybe if u stop thinking about the band and concert u might see the reason?

I believe that God has a plan for each of our lives. This is no different. Who knows what would have happened if you had gone. I know it feels pointless now, but something good will come of it, promise.

YES and I believe that it's always for the better! You never know, something worse could've happened if you didn't break your leg. Take it in stride.
anonymous
2007-09-02 19:23:35 UTC
Not necessarily. Bad things happen to me almost daily, and some of it, I don't see a good reason that it should.

But some things happen and it's like, "That was just too good to be true. Too coincidental."

So maybe, but I'm not sure.

Yes. There is a reason always. But you may change it in many cases.

There are five Niyamas(laws) which control everything. Which one is powerful it will win. So, if your mid(Citta Niyama/Order of mind) was powerful you could change it. You can get necessary mind power by doing correct mediation(stop wander of mind and concentrate mind on one thing). But main thing is Karma. From our born to death, everything mainly happened according to karmas which we have done in previous lives ( But there are other four Niyamas). Getting a good appearance, good house, good friends, good job or good wife everything mainly happened according to Karma(But we can change it if we have good Karmas with us). Karmas we are doing in this life mainly get on to action in the next life, that’s why many people don’t believe it. According to Buddha if you don’t believe karma it will be a very bad karma called "Mithya Dushtiya" which will definitely make very bad results.

You(your generation of minds) will rebirth according to what you have done(Karma) in this life(or in previous lives) since you have not attain enlightenment(eternal happiness). If you have done many good deeds you will rebirth in a good place(heaven, human realm). But if you have done many bad deeds you will rebirth in a bad place(Animal realm, evil spit, daemon, hell animal). There is no supernatural being that determines anyone's fate of its own will and everyone is responsible for their own actions and their consequences. I think it is same as Newton's third law of nature. If you have done any of five bad crimes or sins(Anantarika-karma) you will definitely reborn in a hell world. No one even a god can't stop it.

When your last mind(Chuthi Chiththa) vanish from your body(death), your next mind(Prathisandi Chiththa) will start in a new body(birth) but no time delay for this(according to Abhidharma) even if you rebirth in a far away solar system(Isn't this wonderfully? Mind is the most fastest thing. fastest than light).

------------------------------------

* You do good deed, good result return. You do bad deed, bad result returns.(There is Karma)

* Helping or gifting to a virtuous person will return many good deeds than to a normal person.

* There is a life after death.

* There are extraterrestrial worlds (including hells and heavens). Some animals came here after death; some animals go there after death.

* Helping or gifting to mother and father will return many good deeds than to a normal person.

* There are some animals who born instantly from their karma without mother or father(Such as gods)

* Rarely, unusual intelligent men are born. Some of them are becomes monk and concentrate their mind with meditation. Some of them are getting unusual intelligent and will discourse a great teachings saying how to become happy forever (Four Nobel Truths). They are called Buddha’s.
