Late 60's early 70's Rock, Blues, & Pop as well as some Classical. I lived in Texas growing up & in the mid 70's around Austin a new movement in Country music started there called Progressive Country, which eventually became what I think today they call "New Country". At 18 I was introduced to bluegrass which if done well is incredible & not so incredible if done badly. The school system at the time would bus the kids (that would be me then) to the Symphony once a month also.

Blessings!

I was born in the mid eighties and so I grew up with the massive wave of boybands such as Take that, Boyzone, A1, Backstreet boys etc....when I was a kid it was pure cheesy pop that ruled the charts, like Steps and the Vengaboys (a cheesy spanish band). Now its really weird (but better in some ways) cause among 14 yr olds Emo and rock is popular or commercial RnB like Tnychy Stryder and Chris Brown.

When I was 13-16, Rock and Emo (Emo didnt exist, it was called grebo back then like in 1998) was hated by everyone, maybe like 1 or 2 rock fans out of a year of 120 ppl and hip hop was FAR less commercial, it was still a minory taste like rock was - at least in where i live in the UK Midlands. The since Destinys Child, it kind of blew up and became a a lot more commercial. I hate them for doing that - for spawning a new wave of copy cat dull RNB artists cashing in on the new trend, even though I liked Destinys Child at the time. Beyonce seems to have lost her hip hop style too and crossed into pop, she sounds like natasha bedingfield or RNB version of Dido, really mediocre and unoriginal and dull, i have to say I preffered her music before. Even since "lose my breath" came out, she has gone down hill, that was her last good song. Sorry for the rant lol.

I grew up with quite a wide variety of music....my parents had quite a varied record collection.....including quite a lot of classical music, alongside Burl Ives, Pete Seeger and The Beatles....to name just a few. My enthusiasm for classical music began at quite an early age....although my favourite composers have probably changed somewhat over the years.

I was born in 1977....and I also have fond memories of some of the records which made the singles charts in the UK when I was around 10 years old....which would be 1987 or so. My parents bought a few of those singles for us around that time....and I clearly remember hearing them on the radio as well.

If anything, I think I listen to a wider variety now than I used to.

Every genre -- I have been very into music since I was young. When I was very little, I listened to Classical, Oldies, Celtic, Goth, Punk, Pop, and Rap and a lot of music from other cultures. Ever since I was 9, I have been totally inspired by Visual Kei - the fashion and the music amaze me.

When I was in about 5th grade, I started listening to new emo like My Chemical Romance and stuff like that. My favorite band as 5th grader was Evanescence.

But I have been making music since I was very, very young. So, needless to say, I loved classical.

So, in short: everything!

when I was a kid, nothing. pre-teens radio and some vinyl but don't remember what.

then when I became a teenie bopper, I became the youngest deejay at Penn State university. I played my own choices. I chose punk, and early goth which was just beginning really at that time. I also played some old stuff to catch people off guard lol. I'm proud to say I had a nice cult following at the university.
