Try coin collecting. It doesn't have to cost you a lot. You can go to the bank and pick of a box of coin (whichever denomination you like) for exactly face value. A box of pennies is $25, a box of nickels is $100, a box of dimes is $250 and boxes of quarters or half dollars are $500. You don't have to buy the whole box. The bank can pull out whatever amount you like.

Once you get a box, you can go through and pull out the better coins (there are books to help with this or websites). You can pick up a coin album and try to fill all the holes (get one for each year) or just search for interesting ones.

The coins that you don't want can be returned to the bank and put straight back into your account (though it's often better to return the coins to a different bank (not just a different branch but a different bank) so that you don't search the same coins over and over). Everything you find will have been obtained at face value. You'd be surprised what people have found. Check out these links to see:

http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic...

http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic...

http://www.foundinrolls.com/

Also check your change for interesting finds.

Some things to search for: wheat pennies, silver dimes, silver quarters, old coins, error coins, coins with the "S" mintmark - it could be a proof coin etc. There's always the chance that you could find a real treasure!

It's also helpful to buy a red book. It can help you price your coins and will answer many of the questions you may have.

OR IF THAT'S NOT FOR YOU...

there are a number of things to do once you're bored. some innovations must be to verify, write, p.c.. up a pastime, choose for a walk, call a buddy, hear to song, sparkling, or make plans for the destiny. those plans may be for a month from now, the next day, or what ever volume of time forward which you desire.

Practical jokes on unsuspecting people and have your friend film there reaction. Examples: When you see some one on a man lift, walk up to the controls with a dumb look on your face and say, "Whats this lever for" or when you see someone up in a high place, walk up to their latter and say, "Who left this here"

The public is my entertainment there always out there to play around with.

I am a De@dbeat dad.

Your culture prohibits me from work by court order.

Your culture prohibits me from publishing thoughts by court order, lest another copy my every word and sue me for volation of his copywrite, which by Statute and case Law I cannot enjoy.

The Same For Patents.

I could cure AIDS, and your culture, because I was a good soldier, who caught another soldier distributing d rugs, would not admit that I had ever done so, but would instead honor it's promise to decriminate against me. The would find, as ordered by the "highest courts" and the States and Federal Government on all levels, that I had no right to be good, at anything; I am ordered slave for others in their false and wicked names, and refuse God's own every inspiration, because it's "legal" to refuse a person ordered to earn too much, who then cannot earn "enough", licenses, such as patent licenses.

So, I am bad.

So I am bored.

And wounded.

On the day I arrested "my betters", they had me shot.

At first they made me dance, they shot once, twice, three and four times into the sand at my feet. Then the sniper got into the act. He fired his small bore SKS into the same aiming point, but being father away, and stoned, he placed these rounds through my feet.

And that was the last sane moment I have known for 27 years. As those rounds he fired from his automatic tore towards me.

I, with my tin badge and my brand new .357 magnum pistol. Newly deputized to ward the Game of Maine. And to find the d rug dealers in the wood.

I did the job.

And then, I had two shot feet.

And my brother, drew and put two bullets into the man in front of us with the Sig Sawyer machine pistol in 9mm., pride that he was of the United States Seals. But they did not knock him down. Because, Ron Reagan had sent our opposition armored in support the Contras sales of dope in the USA. His armor was then a state secret. Ceramic and reinforced with the best carbon fibers.

My brother knew he was wearing the armor. But his training was that at close range it would not defeat his 38 special.

His training murdered him.

His thrid round was too little, too late, but better aimed, considering, as it hit the bastard in the arm. It was to be the only scratch we would inflict.

As the bullets tore my brother in half I could not hardly move, from pain, a stuck holster and disbelief. They told me later in the hospital he took twenty plus rounds.

I only saw one.

As they lifted me into the 12 to 14 foot aluminium boat the State had so generously provided us (you should have seen the smuggler's boat) I looked down at my brother. He had been executed with one round through his right eye.

It was just as the VC got from our modified rounds. My family had been in arms at that time. We were targeted for Eldest Son, the now declassified (thanks GWB) Vietnam Era program to blow up enough of the first generation AK-47 so as to discourage it's use long enough to field the M-16.

As a result of this I lost more than one entire family, before rebuilding my life. Before this brother.

Curiously, he asked me a few weeks before they killed him if he would rather fire a bent steel plate AK or one of the earlier forged models. I didn't recall then the lesson of Eldest Son, I didn't know it was a serious question. With modified amo the early one's would place the bolt through the person firing it's eye.

And that is what I saw.

But it was enough.

And I survived the night in the boat, hiding from the smugglers; will I survive your de@dbeat dad laws?

Will I ever get over being bored? An be allowed to work?

Well I know this sounds cheesy but when I am bored I like to color. I print things out on the computer and color them. Or I like to learn how to play something new on the guitar. You could read a book but that is boring in it's self. Haha. If you have a myspace I like to make my own layouts. It is time consuming and I think it is fun.

Blink wildly and then close your eyes really tight for an interesting light show

(Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes)

See a variety of blobs, stars and flashes. Try to make out shapes and see if your subconscious is trying to send you a message (perhaps that funny shape is saying, 'send all your money to urban75.com'?)

See how long you can hold a note

(Amusement Potential: 4-20 minutes)

Not that much fun, but it sure passes the time. Play with a friend, or try to beat your own personal best. Inhale deeply and then try and make a noise for as long as you can. Earn extra points for making your partner laugh or ending on an amusing note.

Try to not think about penguins

(Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes)

This is especially hard, because by trying too much, you remember what you were trying to avoid thinking of. If you try too little, you end up thinking about penguins anyway.

Use your secret mind power

(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)

Pick a passing by and try to use your mind power to command them do something, like drop their bag or knock into someone. The law of averages dictates that sooner or later one of your mind commands will come true, so you can convince yourself that you really have super human powers and waste even more time trying them out.

Pretend you're a robot

(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)

Walk down the street with mechanical movements, adding 'zzzzzt' sounds with each motion. Pretending to have a motor broken in, say, your left hand can add at least 30 seconds more entertainment.

Scratch yourself

(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)

Go ahead, scratch yourself now. Even if nothing itches, go ahead. Doesn't that feel pretty good?

Rate passers by

(Amusement Potential: 10-15 minutes)

Secretly award passers by marks out of ten as you go along, offering (unsaid) expert criticism over their clothing, hairstyle and footwear choices.

Repeat the same word over and over until it loses its meaning

(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)

Pick a random word out of a magazine and say it aloud to yourself until it becomes a meaningless set of noises.

Pinch yourself

(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)

What is pain? Why is it unpleasant? There's nothing physical about it - it's all in your mind. Plus, after pinching yourself for awhile, boredom will seem nice next to being in pain.

Try to swallow your tongue

(Amusement Potential: 1-2 minutes)

There's not much to say about this one. It is possible, but really stupid.

Pretend to be a car

(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)

Make appropriate revving noises in your head as you walk along and add a racing commentary as you pass strangers in the street. Use blinking eyes as indicators for extra authenticity.

Make Star Trek door noises

(Amusement Potential: 1-2 minutes)

Stand by an electric door to a bank or something and make that silly "Scccccccchwop" sound heard whenever people popped on to the bridge to hang with Captain Kirk.

Look at something for awhile, shut eyes, study after image

(Amusement Potential: 2-5 minutes)

Another great time waster. It takes about 30 seconds of staring to create an after image, and the image is then viewable for about the same length of time. Fun to combine this one with pushing on your eyes.

Get yourself as nauseated as possible

(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)

Best achieved by looking straight up and spinning around. Try to be so dizzy you can't even stand up. This is also entertaining due to the "makes boredom seem a lot better" effect (see "Hurt Yourself").

Invent a weird twitch

(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)

Adopt a bizarre twitch (e.g. flicking your head irregularly, twitching with eye or busting out sporadic cough noises) and try it out when you go shopping.

Make a low buzzing noise

(Amusement Potential: 15-30 minutes)

Hours of fun in libraries! Keeping a totally straight face and looking nonchalant, make a low pitch humming/buzzing noise and see who reacts.

See what's in your neighbour's rubbish/trash

(Amusement Potential: 20-30 minutes)

You can learn a lot about people by what they throw out. You might uncover some dark secret about them. Plus, they might be throwing out something with value that still works, like a VCR or some porn mags.

Watch TV, repeat everything said in Italian accent

(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)

Sort of entertaining. Include flamboyant shoulder shrugs for added impact, or go for a Marlon Brando set of grunts.

Send spooky emails

(Amusement Potential: 15-60 minutes)

Look up someone's CV on the web, do some research on them via Google and then send them an email full of personal references claiming to be an ex-work colleague who fell in love with their shoes. Or something.

Play our useless games

(Amusement Potential: how long have you got?)

Waste away the hours with our collection of useless games

Make prank phone calls

(Amusement Potential: 20-60 minutes)

Very entertaining, but requires discipline. Remember - vulgarities don't make a call funny, but getting the other person to believe a ridiculous story will. Try seeing if you can get them to make noises to 'test' the line. One to get you started off: Call McDonalds with weird complaints about their food.

Pretend all humans will die except for people in room with you

Amusement Potential: 10-20 minutes)

What would you do if this really happened? Would the group stay together, or would there be factions? Who would join what group? Remember, there would only be power for a few days before the plants ran out of fuel or broke. To travel, you would always have to be near cars to siphon gas out of. Best to do with people you know.

Step off a curb with eyes shut, imagine it's a cliff

(Amusement Potential: 2-5 minutes)

To get any benefit out of this one, you have to have a good imagination. Don't step off immediately, build up to the jump. Study the ravine below. Feel the winds at that altitude. Step off and...AHHHHHH!!!!!

Try and sound Welsh

(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)

The key to sounding Welsh is to make sure that your voice goes up at the end of the sentence, so that everything sounds like a question. Throw in a superfluous 'isn't it?' at the end of everything you say and you're halfway there. Isn't it?

Burn things with a magnifying glass

(Amusement Potential: 5-30 minutes)

Ants are always fun to use for this, but burning the face of someone you don't like, under some circumstances, can be just as entertaining.

Blink wildly and then close your eyes really tight for an interesting light show

(Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes)

See a variety of blobs, stars and flashes. Try to make out shapes and see if your subconscious is trying to send you a message
