Am I the only 80's music fan here that's wondering about this Japanese toilet brand called TOTO?

Question

For those who don't know TOTO is an American band of awesome musicicans who started in the 70's as session musicians for Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, Boz Scaggs, Sonny and Cher, and many others. Their music blends pop, rock, soul, funk, progressive rock, hard rock, R&B, and jazz. They won 6 Grammy's in the 1982 with their album "TOTO IV", with hits like "Rosanna" and "Africa" which opened the door for another three hit singles from the same album, and for their help in the writing of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album with the song "Human Nature" that was later covered in recording by Miles Davis.

OK. TOTO is in my top 3, if not the top, of my favorite 80s bands. I guess this is just a good reminder Y!A is all about information. So what about those toilets? Have you wizzed on a TOTO in any public places lately?

The very first cassette i ever owned was Toto, i was so excited that day. I was about 6... somewhere around there, me, my brother and my dad went into the store to buy a mothers day gift for my Ma.... i threw a tanty because i wanted the Toto album SO BAD! I still love them, me and my best friend catch up every school holidays, we sit around drinking and listening to good old tunes.. she's a Toto fan too : )

Yeah I live in Japan, and my toilet is a ToTo.



Did you also know that in certain bathrooms, they have a urinal laying on it's back like in the floor. With no toilet seats.... that's also a toto



I still can't use it. You have to squat and risk peeing on yourself.



There was also no toilet paper in their either.

I thought i was a joke, but turns out they are quite common.



This was not the men's room btw. I double checked.

To wipe one's bottom with Toto...just seems a bit off. My first thoughts would've been for the dog from Wizard of Oz not the band. Either way, don't put bands or dogs on your bum.

Good question, I don't think I have seen these toilets, but it is really weird. Now I just have to look for the brand name on the toilets, when I'm in a public place.
