Although he didnt have nearly as many hits or classics as jimi, the ones he did have were BEYOND and OUT OF this world

Steve Vai is amazing, but Jimi Hendrix used to stick acid under his bandana before he played. So he played tripping on acid. He was so original, so I'm going to go with Jimi Hendrix.

They are both good but there is an up and coming guitarist named Jeong-Hyun Lim (FunTwo) from South Korea and hes real good and would give them both a run for their money.

You can't ask a queston like this. I know for a Fact Vai was classically trained, and could play it well. But then there is Hndrix taught himself to play right handd buy turning the guitar upside down. They both HAVE great talent. But from different genre's and talents
