Question:
Why is circumcision such a "touchy subject" to some people?

Why do some people act like it will change the whole kid's life or act as they should let him decide?

I mean get over it people.

Sorry random question but yeah, I just wanted to know P&S thoughts on this topic.

Star if your circumcised and have the balls to admit it.

Because no one has the right to remove healthy, functioning tissue from someone else for no medical reason.

(What other part of your child's body would you get surgically amputated "just because"? None, right? So why the foreskin?)

Circumcision is a human rights violation, plain and simple.

If it's not your body, then it's not yours to remove.

If you're FOR circumcision, then you have your own body to slice up. You have no right to slice up someone else's body.

EVERY man should be able to decide for himself whether he wants part of HIS penis removed or not.

A lot of men resent their parents for not leaving them the choice. And rightfully so.

I think if every man felt the sexual difference between circumcised and uncircumcised, the procedure would be illegal fast!

I dont care if an adult wants it done, After all its his penis. And having it done to a baby takes that choice away from him. . Would you like someone removing some perfectly good skin from your body when there is no medical reason too?

Check out this link and tell me you would let this happen to your child.

Some reasons why people say a male should be circumcised.

1-- Its cleaner to be cut.

I wash everyday and have no problem with smegma or smell. Does that mean cut guys don't have to wash? Mine takes a whole 5 seconds to wash in the shower. Not really a big deal.

2-- It helps prevent HIV being spread.

While this "may" be true (I don't think it is) then why is the AIDS rate in the USA so high when the circ rate is still high for adult men, but Europe is lower where the vast majority of men are uncut. the same goes for cervical cancer on their partners. Also what is wrong with wearing a condom? Not only stops pregnancy but many other STD's as well.

3-- Looks better to be cut.

So just because "some" people think it looks better does that mean everyone must be cut? If one person likes large breasts does that mean all women need a breast implant? Plus how can a large scar line around the shaft of your penis be attractive?

4-- Stops the male getting phismosis.

So because "some" men "may" have this issue all men should be cut? Doesn't make sense to me even more so when phismosis can be treated without circumcision. Plus we keep our tonsils and appendix when some people have problems with them.

5-- He may get picked on at school.

I never did when a lot of the other guys at school were cut. Why are other guys looking at my penis anyway? Plus I never had a sexual partner say they didn't want to have sex with me because of my foreskin.

6-- So he looks like dad.

My step father was circumcised as was my step brother. I never had an issue that mine was different because I knew I was intact and they were not. My mother taught me why mine was not the same as them and I never had an issue with it.

7-- Its my choice as a parent.

Is it your right to remove a part of your child's body for any of the above reasons when it does not need to be removed? Why not let the boy make the choice as informed adult what he wants done to his body.

And you may get some posts from some people who say a foreskin is gross and disgusting. Sure there are women out there that are turned off by a natural penis but there will be more who are turned on by them (about 85% of the worlds men are uncut). So just because one woman is turned off by a foreskin does that mean all women are? I don't think so. An adult male should be able to make the choice if 'HE' wants a foreskin or not.

Because it is. Having your genitals permanently altered without your consent is a major deal and has psychological ramifications for every person that has had it done to them, whether they appreciate the fact that it was done or not.

Having your body altered without consent will raise concerns for everyone no matter how they feel about it. Also men place a lot of pride on that area of their body so it's going to be a touchy subject for all men because they need to know that what was or wasn't done to them was better.

Circumcision is a big deal. The procedure doesn't just cut off some skin. It removes 66% of the nerve endings in the penis, increases premature sexual dysfunction, removes a big chunk of sensitivity, makes sex much less enjoyable, makes orgasms shorter and less enjoyable, and most of all it's a violation of human rights.

Men who feel that they have been violated, have, and have every right to be upset. No one has the right to mutilate your body without your consent (and yes by definition circumcision is mutilation).

Not too long ago there was a guy in the news, he took his 7 year old son to get a really big gang tattoo on his side. Once his mother found ou the dad was charged with child abuse and arrested.

How is it that people freak out about forcing a little boy to get a tattoo yet other parents can hack off parts of their childrens genitals? I'm sorry but circumcision is more extreme than a tattoo, and less perminant since tattoos can be 100% reversed with new laser tech. Why did he go to jail for tattooing his child?

I'm circumcised, but I have restored my foreskin and it was the greatest decision I ever made. Circumcision greatly reduces the fun, excitment, pleasure, and over all enjoyment of sex. That's not right to do to someone and yes that does affect the rest of the childs life.

I will always resent my parents for cutting me without my permission. I mean after all it's not their body, they might be my parents but that doesn't mean I'm their property. Slavery ended years ago, I'm a human being not an object.

Circumcised and happily so. You have to remember more than 70% of people that post against circumcision are not even American and really have no clue! Throw in a few homosexuals that have issues with their parents and there you are.....

Having been on both sides, I have to say I am in favor of circumcision. I had to wait until I was 18, as my father was against it (European). I can assure you there is no loss of sensitivity and it is not mutilation. I had to go through all the taunts in the gym and have the girls ask what was wrong with my penis. The rates have fallen, but that is a result of illegal immigrants breeding faster than the rest of the country (CDC says 87% of white males are circumcised and get circumcised shortly after birth). Being circumcised is cleaner (an uncircumcised male can clean 3-4x a day and still have a smell), it is healthier (an uncircumcised male has a 60% higher chance of acquiring STD's/HIV through heterosexual intercourse), it is better looking (that's a no brainer) and it improves sexual function.

When my 3 son's (5,3,1) were born I had no hesitation to have them circumcised. I know there is no downside, only a lifetime of benefits to be circumcised.

because of fact that's the incorrect subject to do. I hate being mutilated this type and desire human beings could desire to ensure what they are doing to their son. The tiny retaining outcomes are unproved and after all are completely wiped out however the hardship expenditures. those good hardship expenditures basically count quantity issues that happen in the present day and don't comprise issues like pores and skin bridges that are actually not got here upon till ultimately later. because of fact it hurts like hell, he loses 2 thirds of his penile pores and skin, significant sexual lube-like function and the main delicate factors of his penis there could be NO justification for doing this. He could desire to have a ultimate to finished genitals only like little females do. Their genitals are harder to scrub than well-known intact male genitals. the different civilised usa interior the international is abandoning this custom. maximum Australian medical doctors refuse to do it, besides the shown fact that it became exceptionally much customary whilst i became born. Here's my take on it:

Circumcision turns a normal child into a sexually deformed and dysfunctional freak who is forever afterwards incapable of normal sex. If I want to mutilate myself, that's insane, but it's my body and my right to mess it up. If my parents (or anyone else) do that to me, they should be locked up for ten years, after which they should be on the national list of sex offenders.

Why? Because circumcision is doctor-mandated rape. Heck, rape (the legally defined version) doesn't necessarily change someone's entire life either, but we jail rapists anyway. The same should apply to anyone who cuts and mutilates another person's genitals without getting their consent first.

Um, because it removes a source of pleasure from another human for life, without asking if that is what they want. It would not be any subject if parents did what 80% of the parents do worldwide, not amputate healthy pleasure giving tissue from their own kid's genitals.

Male circumcision is nerve damage -- a cutting off about 20000 fine touch and stretch sensing nerve endings and removing a source of pleasure from the male FOR LIFE. This is 2/3 of the total pleasure source amputated! This is nerves, blood vessels, protective covering and pleasure zones taken away from a human before the human can experience this. The dynamics and function and pleasure from sex and masturbation of the penis is harmed for good. The only touch organ possessing as rich erogenous innervation as the foreskin is the clitoris. Circumcision deprives man of 2/3ds of the main erogenous zone constituted of the foreskin and the glans.

BTW, the other risks (besides loss of sexual function, ED, PE and loss of PLEASURE) include curved or misshapen erection, painful erection, botches of all sorts (many requiring redo) and death. About 120 boys DIE each year in the US from this sick practice.

It's a touchy subject to me because it made my sex life not as good as it could have been.

Will you "get over it" when you experience erectile dysfunction and/or premature ejaculation (more frequently and earlier in life than intact guys) and your girlfriend isn't happy about it and wonders what's wrong with you? You only have PART OF A PENIS, not a whole penis. That is nothing to be proud about.

Bf is in the process of non-surgically restoring his foreskin and it's awesome! Maybe you shoud restore? Maybe it would make you less insecure.

Be wise, don't circumcise.

After I started restoring my foreskin I realized just how much I had lost because of my infant circumcision. I wish my parents had left the choice to me. I would have preferred to keep all of my sex organ.

Circumcision has become to some people something like the abortion issue. They think its wrong and will stop at nothing to have the procedure banned. The ploy of letting the child decide is important to intactivists(anti-circumcision) because the know that relatively fewer men will get circumcised as adults. The dont believe in parental right and duty to have their sons circumcised. Intactivists also believe that their opinion should trump religious circumcisions.

They try and spread myths that circumcision is bad.

Actually circumcision gives the boy or man a lifetime of protection against cancer of the penis, stds, hiv , uris, balanitis and phimosis

As for being circumcised, I can proudly say yes I am. Circumcised last year in my late fifties.

The only regret I have is that I didnt have it done when I was in my teens or at birth.

Circumcision is the gift that keeps on giving.

because it's an unnecessary surgery. Some consider it to be genital mutilation.

I am circumcised, though.

I don't know.

I guess some people just don't want to mess with their baby boy and leave him the way he is.

But other people say it will prevent certain cancers and UTI's and just better for his health.

Lol I know a mom whose son was circumcised and once while changing his diaper he "got up" but because she didn't know circumcision makes a boy more sensitive.
2010-06-24 21:51:04 UTC
Because some people don't like getting "touched."
