Anything by Leo McCarey (Ruggles of Red Gap, Duck Soup, the Awful Truth, Going My Way, Make Way for Tomorrow )MW4T(--he put Laurel and Hardy together) or Peter Bogdonavich (Paper Moon, What's Up Doc? or Mask). At 2017 TCM Classic Film Festival during an exclusive conversation with TCM host Ben Mankiewicz, Bogdonavich spoke of McCarey explaining he should have won the Oscar for MW4T *not* the Awful Truth + what Orson Welles said about Make Way for Tomorrow, which I'd probably pick if I must pick one --a film few people know.

I would say John Steinbeck was a family friend and after he actually dressed and worked in the fields of Salinas California he made his way to my Grandfathers ranch in Manteca, drove up the long drive and got out of the old truck with overalls and a beard. Got out of the truck with an electric shaver he purchased in San Francisco which no one had seen before and cleaned himself up and told the family of what he had seen and his book he was writing. I love the movie, so well done.

Reservoir Dogs is my favorite, It has all of the brilliance of other Tarantino films but it doesn't have the big budget and the entire movie (with the exception of some flashbacks) is essentially set in one room.
Kill Bill is another one of my favorites.

The Godfather II.
I like it better than GF I. The contrast between the neighborhood and the country. In some ways the same, though less violence. All the elements of good movies. That is: story, music, lighting, acting.
No boring scenes at all.

The 1982 John Carpenter version of The Thing. One of the actors in it is David Clennon and he has been my eye candy ever since I first saw him in it as Palmer in the early 1990s.
"Darkest Hour" was a movie I spun over and over again when I had a crush on a girl, didn't know how to talk to her, and considered a loss to be absolutely the one thing that just couldn't happen - so that movie made me envision in my brain a situation room constantly going to make sure things were picked apart and the outcome was the one I needed.
Didn't happen, lol.
I just shrugged and tried to put it behind me - but I like that movie and it made me buy 3 other Churchill movies.
One with Brian Cox is actually almost as good as Darkest Hour.

I have a lot of favourite films but one which I watched recently and loved is "Coraline". I hated it for giving me nightmares about The Other Mother as a child, but now I adore it.
