I would say it depends on the joke and if you might make an innocent situation worse if you get upset and tell that person off after they tell the joke. I usually listen to it and tone it out, but not make a scene out of it if I find it offensive.

yes, it's wrong to laugh simply because it is a racist joke

I think it all depends on the joke and the way it's told. If it was meant to truly demean or degrade another race or group and you know that was the intention of the joke teller, then, yes, it's racist to laugh. If it was told in just pure, good fun, then, no, of course not. You're just enjoying a good laugh. I agree with others who have answered that we all should lighten up a little about our differences. What's the fun in being different if we can't laugh at each other? Also, everyone knows a good racist joke, but not everyone who tells them are racist, myself included.

Of course NOT! A joke is a joke! People have to be less up-tight when people tell jokes and don't get all bent out of shape because race is part of the equation. Too many people out there today that are way to concerned about racism and are so quick to yell 'racism' every time someones ethnicity is mentioned.

I don't think they are racist for laughing at a racist joke...they are meant to make people laugh.....Ive heard jokes about my nationality many times and i find it amusing....so if someone were to seriously get upset, its because they are just sensitive to stuff like that, which they really shouldn't be....there are plenty of jokes about Jews, blacks, whites, Italians, blonde's, brunettes, red-heads, and so on.....people shouldn't be so sensitive, because there are jokes made for everyone.

No. You can laugh at a joke without agreeing with it. For example, I laughed at what may be the worst, mostt vile joke EVER. I definitely did not agree, but still found it amusing. If anyone would like to hear the joke, post it and I will edit mine to include it. It is so bad I don't want to put it in right now.

I am pale and hispanic so alot times the white people tell mexican jokes that are pretty offensive, to me, or to the group I am with .until someone or I ,stop them .and one of my favorite jokes is a mexican bashing joke .so I guess,I maybe judged as racist ,but I just have a twisted sense of humor, and not easily offended and dont take it personally.

No, I laugh not only at jokes about people of differnet races than me, but also jokes about my own race. You have to reallize that jokes are not attacking you as a person specifically and that they are simply playing off of racial stereotypes (Jewish ppl are rich, e.g.).
If you laugh at a joke, that doesn't mean you are a racist, it just meand the joke was funny, but not nessesarly true for all people of that race.

No racism is a joke, we need to laugh at the small things and move on! What makes this EARTH a great place to live are all the different races, creeds and colors. we have bigger problems than that!!

No. Everyone does it. It proves you are either uncomfortable with what was said, and thus laugh to not stand out, or you merely can enjoy a joke for a joke.

no. if you laughed at a blonde joke it doesn't mean you hate blondes. I'm white and i laugh at white jokes all the time. It doesn't matter as long as in doing it your not offending any one. My best friend is black and she makes black and white jokes. No, it dosen't make you a racist.

well, it doesn't really matter w/ my group of friends. ya know there's the unwritten rule that you can make fun of your own race, but not of others'? my group of friends has: asians, blondes (not a race, i know), hispanics, blacks, and jews (not entirely sure if that's a race... ^__^ i'm kinda stupid that way; sorry!). we all make jokes about each other. ^__^ kinda wrong, i know. but it's actually kinda funny.
as long as you feel comfortable with the joke, i think you should be ok. but if you don't, just tell the person that you don't feel comfortable hearing jokes like that. and if they don't stop telling them, leave.

depends on the joke... if it uses a sterotype , like irish drinking, then why not. Besides I'm blonde and laugh at blonde jokes and I'm catholic and laugh at catholic jokes... as long as the joke is in good fun.

it does depend on the joke, like you said, but if you laugh when it isn't even funny, like if it's REALLY REALLY REALLY mean, then i guess you can call that person a racist
