Queen Mary I of England was later known as bloody mary because of her ruthlessness

it later became a famous coctail made with vodka and tomato juice

rumours have it that if you skip around a baptising sink 3 times and sing: bloody mary, bloody mary, bloody mary. And then look at a mirror and you'll see her and she'll pull you into the mirror. That is why you will never see a mirror next to a baptising sink

hope i helped =]

In folklore and children's street culture, "Bloody Mary" is a game in which a ghost of the same name (or sometimes other names, such as "Mary Worth") is said to appear in a mirror when her name is stated three times, though there are many variations. Other variations say that the querent must not look directly at her, but at her image in the mirror; she will then reveal the querent's future, particularly concerning marriage and children.[2]

Bloody Mary is typically described as a child-murderer who lived in the local city where the legend has taken root years ago. On the other hand, various people have surmised that the lore about taunting Bloody Mary about her baby may relate her tenuously to folklore about Queen Mary I, known in history by the sobriquet "Bloody Mary".[3][1] The queen's life was marked by a number of miscarriages or false pregnancies. Speculation exists that the miscarriages were deliberately induced. As a result, some retellings of the tale make Bloody Mary the queen driven to madness by the loss of her children.[4] It is likely, however, that Queen Mary I provided only her nickname to the Bloody Mary of folklore. She is also confused in some tellings of the story with Mary Queen of Scots.

Bloody Mary was a Queen of England from 1553 until her death. She is the sister to Queen Elizabeth--both of the Tudor Family.

She is remembered for restoring England to Catholicism. In the process, she had almost 300 religious dissenters burned at the stake in the Marian Persecutions, earning her the nickname of "Bloody Mary".

That mirror game, where you chant Bloody Mary in the mirror and supposedly something happens, is, in my experience, referring to the former Queen Mary, as "Bloody Mary" is well known as her nickname.

It is also a popular drink, named for her.

Bloody Mary is a myth about a girl who died along time ago because her husband killed her by slamming her head into the mirror and kept saying bloody mary. I've tried bloody mary with my friends many times but it never worked. But it might work for other people. Sometimes it may work but it never worked for me. If i were you I wouldn't do it alone because you will get scared.

Her name is really Mary, I forgot why people call her bloody Mary. When I was in school I read about her in the history book. So yes she's real.

I don't know but I'm not willing to find out.

These kids next door came over my house and throw water at my mirror and said it 3 times. Nothing happened, but they said my house is now "haunted" - I swear they're kinda creepy. They always talk about scary movies or Bloody Mary, I only did that around Halloween when I was little.

But yeah. She's supposably this girl that appears in your mirror. Probably some stupid BS, 'cause I've seen people do it and nothing. But yet I'm too scared to do it haha

Bloody Mary is a myth... Supposedly when you go into a bathroom and say her name 3 times while standing in front of a mirror she will appear and scratch out your eyes.

I have no idea why they named an alcoholic drink after this though. Maybe because it's red and Bloody Mary makes you bleed? I dunno.

Here's a site on more about her:

"Bloody Mary" is the nickname given to Henry VIII's daughter, Mary Tudor. After Henry's son, Edward VI, died, Mary became the queen of England. Mary returned England to Roman Catholicism. Hundreds of Protestants were burned at the stake for their opposing beliefs, earning her the title "Bloody Mary". After her death, Mary's 25 year old half-sister, Elizabeth, became queen.

Queen Mary I Tudor of England was known as "Bloody Mary" because during her reign she had more than 300 persons burned at the stake for heresy.

Bloody mary was the queen of England before the american revolution. She is known as bloody mary because she tried to reestablish the catholic religion and killed anyone that went against that or her rule in general. She was known for putting the heads on spikes by the entrance of England

stand in front of the mirror and say her name 3 times.

But! As a person, I believe the name Bloody Mary came from the UK. She was once a wife of one of the kings of England. I don't have much history about this. But, apparently she was beheaded. And...i think....thats the story. Sorry, about the history of it, i just know bits and pieces. Hope this helps.

Wow I can't believe Bloody Mary is still around. Turn on the water turn off the lights and beware.
2008-10-07 12:23:35 UTC
Yeah, "Blood Mary" is real. Her sister is Queen Elizabeth (i think) and why she was called "bloody mary"? Becasue when she became the ruler, she started to punish and kill thousands of Christians, because she's a Catholic and she doesn't agree with the other Christians.

The epithet "Bloody Mary" is associated with a number of historical (particularly Queen Mary I of England) and fictional women, especially from folklore. It is believed that inspiration for the cocktail was the Hollywood star Mary Pickford who earlier had a similar cocktail consisting of rum, Grenadine and Maraschino named after her.

In 1934, the cocktail was called "Red Snapper" at the St. Regis Hotel, where Petriot was hired at the time. It was here that Tabasco sauce was added to the drink, and the name "Bloody Mary" eventually won popularity. In the 1960s it became popular to serve the cocktail with celery due to a guest at The Pump Room at the Ambassador East Hotel in Chicago.

The name likely refers to the blood-like color of the cocktail.

a drink - vodka and tomato juice. Some say it is named for the English Queen Mary - Henry VIII's daughter who was a catholic and had many protestants executed. It was their turn; she followed Henry's reign - he did the reverse. After her reign, Elizabeth 1st came to the throne - and as a protestant, continued that grand old tradition of murdering those with different religious beliefs. Oh well - maybe at some time soon this way of going about life will cease.
