I am trying to pick a classical guitar because I already have an electric one and I'm in need of a classical one..
Here's the list:
1.Takamine EG124 C w/ Cutaway ( electrical classical)
2. Fender CG-4CE ( electrical classical)
3. Manuel Rodriguez Model C9 Caballero ( classical)
4. Yamaha C80 (classical)
5. Ibanez G200E (classical)
So which one would you pick or what else?

i pick fender, simply because thats the standard and its usually reasonably priced. brands like ibanez and takamine can get a bit rediculous

I would look at the Yamahas in the 300 to 500 dollar range, Laminated Indian rosewood sides and back and solid spruce top. In classical music circles a cutaway is considered cheating, but can come in handy. What sort of music are you interested in playing on the classical. You need to go to the store and play a few.

Depends on your intended use. If you're using it for gigging and will be playing mostly plugged in, you won't generally be hurt with a plywood top. But if you're using this for general playing and esp. if you want to learn proper classical technique, a solid top is a must. I agree that you have to play a bunch of these, and if you can't tell a good setup from bad, good strings from bad etc. go look with someone who knows classical guitars.

Yamahas and Taks are generally known as workhorses and used by many gigging guitarists. I would add Aria and Seagull to your list. Lastly, if you know what you're looking for, you can get more bang for the buck buying used.

Good luck,

Steve
