Hard working, honest and honourable. (even if you are prone to a little gambling)

I have spent some time in Hong Kong (island) and always been treated with respect.

Fine people.

Well there are many different 'types' of Chinese, just like there are many different Europeans; and you know this. A person from Hong Kong is not the same as a Taiwanese, or like the varied mainland Chinese. Since i used to teach ESL this is what I know. Anyway, since being introduced to Chinese people when growing up I have noticed a change. From the days of being very very friendly, there is an increasing trend towards nationalism, and feelings of superiority I think. This happens everywhere when a country develops. It certainly did in America. I'm from Canada by the way. We're all perfect here. Ha ha ha! Have a nice day!

I live in England. We have had chinese communities in Britain since the time of Queen Victoria.

Britain also had colonies in Hong Kong, as well as Singapore and Malaysia where there are many chinese.

Most of the chinese in britain are from Hong Kong, Singapore or Malaysia, most are of Cantonese origin.

People in Britain are generally supportive of the chinese that live here, mainly because they all work for a living, they are not involved in much crime, they do not interfere with or try to change british culture, and they mix in well with british people.

Some of the new wave of chinese coming in do not fit in so well. Some can be VERY noisy, british people tend to be quieter , especially late at night!

Also there is some crime with the new wave of chinese, mainly people trafficking, extortion and prostitution. I hope that this will not affect the good reputation the long established chinese community has in Britain.

Chinese people are successful in Britain, they succeed more than Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Africans, Jamaicans, Somalis, Afghans, Albanians, Arabs that have come here.

Maybe only the Jews, Italians and Middle Eastern Christians who have come to Britain are more successful.

People in Britain are not Anti China.

However they think the government is bad because of Tibet and lack of Democracy.

Culturally Chinese and Europeans are poles apart. I live in Zagreb so i have spent a good deal of time sorting my citizenship out so am in the immagration offices a lot sorting out my dual nationality. So Picking of ears of themselves and of each other spitting outside and inside buildings eating while serving customers in shops not a biscuit i mean a chicken leg fantastically loud conversations with each other and mobile phones in the bus or the tram apart from that great food friendly and excellent business people.

Can I ask a question back what is strange or disgusting about European ways to you? There has to be something disgusting that we think is normal?

What a great question thanks for asking, the dog killers is just racist rubbish pay no attention to it. Looking forward to the olmpics already seeing the adverts for China on TV in Croatia it looks impressive

I guess we worry about how powerful China may become. I suppose its a case of better the devil you know with the USA. China is still a big mystery in many ways to us in the west so yes, I guess we worry a little bit.

I do have some Chinese friends, and frankly they are some of the nicest people I know.

So Chinese people, great. China as a whole, a little scary, I guess.

I like the Chinese culture for the most part--it's fascinating to me because it's different from western culture; and I am a western girl! But what culture isn't facinating when you get down to it? Of course I don't agree with everything about the Chinese culture; but then nobody asked me and frankly I don't agree with everything about any culture, including my own.

It's really hard for me to generalise or stereotype because individuals are individuals. I can say I don't like the English, but most of my friends happen to be English. I have best mates who say they don't like Americans, but they would do anything for me; I need only ask.

Stereotyping generally just doesn't work when you open your mind and actually meet the people you're trying to lump into one big group. So you're Chinese and I might or might not like you. That guy/girl over there is Chinese and the same applies to him/her.

I'm Thai.I've been travelling a lot to many countries in Europe ,USA as well as Australia.I've got lots of good and bad experiences from those countries. One thing that I realized that uneducated people can say anything out of their background knowledge which is very little, without thinking, caring anybody's feeling.Forgive them....if you've ever heard this saying"Pity the one who knows not but knows not he knows not".We must educate them sometimes for the peaceful world.

I think the Chinese are very clever, intelligent, disciplined people. They are usually quite polite, more so than us sometimes. I also find Chinese people to be honorable. That is my assessment anyway. Greetings from Atlantic Canada!

You are the greatest cooks in the world. (Ha! Just joking. I just happen to love Chinese food.)

Seriously, I worked eight years in a Chinese restaurant. It was my experience that the Chinese (the ones I knew and came in contact with) tolerated, but didn't really like, Americans. They were very cheap, and could pinch a penny till it screamed. They were nice to my face, but not friendly. They always wanted to know more about American ways, but continued to hold to their Chinese traditions.

They eat stuff that is not traditional American food, but if they enjoy it, who am I to say otherwise. I can't imagine eating dog, but I also wouldn't eat goat or lamb, but people do. I have a vegetarian cousin who would never eat beef. What's the difference, if you wouldn't eat something?

I would not stereotype an entire race, and hate someone, because of it. But that's me.

I don't really have problems with people from China...well,not now.Used to have a real deep hatred for my dad's girlfriend.

Greetings from Singapore, where your people immigrated to and after a hundred years turned into one of the most prosperous countries in the world.

You guys have a bad rep here though. Many businessmen here have chinese mistresses and we always have news of illegal massage palours full of chinese people working illegally,or chinese girls coming to Singapore to work as "those" type of girls.Sorry.

Who am I to complain.I come from chinese descendants. So do 90% of my friends here.
hello.

the whole thing about baby girls being left on roadsides to die is pretty bad though.
