How do you greet people?

When I say hi to someone I don't greet them how other people do, I think it's weird to say how are you or it's nice to see you. I look at it as unnecessary & fake in a way. I want to talk to them & I don't wanna come off as fake or anything. I also don't start conversations with family that I rarely see or my boyfriends family. I'm loud & expressive with the people I'm close with but very quiet & introverted with others. Is that weird? Does that make me shy? Any stories, tips, suggestions etc would be appreciated! Thank you!

Are you my secret twin? O.o I'm just like that, too!! And I HATE the "how are you" question, but people never understand why! Well, I'm really timid and introverted at first too, so if I don't know the person too well, I say "hi" and they usually carry on the rest of it, otherwise it's an awkward silence, lol!

I usualy just say "Hey", which I like to believe comes from the Lengthier "Yah tah hey" which is a Native American greeting between people who are friendly or familiar. I believe the Navaho people of the southwest uses this term alot, and maybe other tribes as well. My old Boss always greeted people with Yah tah hey, even though he isnt native.
