not to seem stupid but on youtube and stuff ppl are always like DONT SPAM?! but wat really is spam? what does it do?

SPAM is the term used to describe unsolicited or unwanted electronic messages; usually it takes the form of a chain letter, or more often, an advertisement, often for an adult site. You know, how on youtube, you sometime see:



"DONT READ THIS" and how it is usually followed by some bogus story that if you dont copy and paste it "x" number of time you will die? That is an example of SPAM.



Also, if you see something like Visit freeringtones.com for free ringtones! in a comment or maybe in your email, then that is another example.



They are usually posted by "bots" or computer automated spammers, although there are malicious people (usually called trolls) who do the same thing. Hope this helps.

It's like a bet, for ex. someone says "I will give you 5 dollars if you do [blank]", and whenever you do it they trick you. it's like that, But for Internet it's like when someone's like "If you give me your password I will put [blank] on your account", they get your password and change it. Simple!
